My love for music didn't really kick in till I was about 12 when I heard 'In the shadows' by the Rasmus and then 'In the End' by Linkin Park.

Tell us what your song started your love for music or perhaps an event!

"Ever since I was a young boy,
I played that silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton,
I must've played 'em all.
I ain't seen nothin' like it,
In any amusement hall.

That deaf, dumb, blind kid,
Sure plays a mean pinball."

And the rest of that song too.

(Deja vu?)

Hehe, Linkin Park... Their song "Breaking the Habit", along with the music video for that song got me to like actually listening to music and now I've moved on from genre to genre until I got to the lovely perch I'm at now: Symphonic Metal with Nightwish, Krypteria, and Epica as my 3 main bands.

Weirdly, it was this. That is the first song I can actually remember listening to and that lead to a lot of CD's being bought in that year.

The Scatman by Scatman John

Kiss From A Rose by Seal

Before that, I just thought I didn't really like music all that much.

Oddly enough, I also listened to Vanessa Williams and Ace of Base a lot when I was =< 10 yrs old. Mostly that was because I spent all my money on computer games and mooched whatever music I could off my older sister. :p

My first favourite bands were blink-182 and Linkin Park - "Hybrid Theory" and "Enema of the State" made me a fan of albums, rather than just individual songs. However, it was Nirvana's "In Utero" and Floyd's "Dark Side" that really expanded my musical tastes and got me into a huge variety of different genres and artists.

I kinda got into music when my parents made the leap to get Foxtel, and I'd watch the music channels. I started getting really into it when I got and iPod and started trawling through iTunes for stuff, as well as when I joined my Music class. I can blame my music teacher for my like of The Beatles.

Same for me, that was about 9 years ago now. Now I'm listening to The Beatles and Venetian Snares.

Funny how time changes things.

It was '94 or '95. I went to a yard sale with my dad. I found a CD called "Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits". It has all these big alt rock bands covering cartoon theme songs. I thought it sounded amusing. Not too long afterwards, Butthole Surfers' "Electriclarryland" was the first album I bought with my own money.

Hearing my Dad listen to Queen when I was about 3. I kid you not. They are still my favourite band. I also plan on getting the logo as a tattoo one day.

In fact I have my Dad to thank for my love of music in general.

I was raised on classic rock music. On family trips, we'd listen to Don Henley, George Thorogood, Bruce Springsteen and so on. That's where I started.

I guess it was a result of my upbringing, but I have always had a love of music. Literally from when I was old enough to comprehend what it was, I have loved it.

Literally didn't care a damn about any type of music till I was about 14. Started listening to things basically so I could be cool. Pretty rubbish stuff that most 14 y/o white kids were listening to death at that time (GNR, Green Day( in retro spect they're actually quite good), nickelback, rhcp).

So my older brother realizing my peril leant me "the very best of the Stone Roses", and from that point on my music taste split rather violently away from my friends. And they're still one of my favourite bands.

I think I came to muusic later than most people I know, literally couldn't have told you the difference between Oasis and Elvis Presley before I was 14.

Probably when I was on holiday in Spain when I was like 11, I did karaoke in a random pub, and got a really big round of applause >.> bigger than everyone else who went up.
It made me really happy ^^

I know now that they were clapping so much 'cause I was the youngest and was brave enough to go up there xD my voice is sub-par, but it made me realize how talented some singers are, and how much emotion they put into their songs :D

I wuv music ^^
