I usually don't listen to too many dual mixes of songs, but...

This is just the most ridiculously epic metal instrumental I have ever heard. It's just so goofy and uplifting and MAJESTIC.
If we're going to talk about goofy...

That song is such a guilty pleasure of mine. It's just so delightfully over-the-top and in-your-face. Don't judge me. XD

I messed up the thing with the thing, and I have no idea how to delete comments...

Eh, whatever, not like I got a reputation or anything.
Fixed it for ya. Just hit the Edit button on the top right of your post. Carry on, my wayward son.

Only one really comes to mind right now.

I find the riff super awesome to get into but the way Joe Elliot holds that note at the end of the second chorus leading into the guitar solo, simply unbelievable.

The only song that I couldn't stop listening to, till about 300 times anyway, is Awaken from Yes. Took me awhile to get into, it's so fast and complex.

Pretty wonderful jazz-fusion/prog rock number. Plenty of instrumental talent/variety. Best part of an album I view very fondly.
Love it! Thanks for sharing that. Here in Australia, progressive rock or anything experimental is rarely brought up so I'm usually late to the party.

Damn awesome fuckin' choice mate. Even though people associate Top Gun sooner with Danger Zone (which is also incredibly air-punching-ly awesome) than the actual theme, the theme is even more awesome. Which is saying something because Danger Zone rocks.
Yeah, Danger Zone is definitely a fantastic, classic 80's Pump-Up song, but personally Top Gun Anthem has always been my favorite song from Top Gun's soundtrack.

But if America were wise it'd make the Top Gun theme its national anthem.
Oh I definitely agree to this...but somehow I feel the rest of the world would find us to be even more obnoxious if, for instance, upon taking home the Gold in some Olympic they cue up a glorious 80's Power Anthem as our athlete steps up onto the pedestal. :p

All that's missing from the 80's-ness of the guitarist is a real power stance, but I'll forgive him for that.
Oh he gets a couple in there, but due to the editing you don't get to see much of it.

...I do love how he remembers to work that whammy bar even though it's just a music video. :3

INCORRECT!! The right answer for what the US should make as their anthem, from the category of "1980's Jet Fighter Action Soundtracks" is the following!!

Kenny Loggins' aint got shit on Freddy Mercury! xD

Oh, now this is a list that I'll happily contribute to!

So, this is a song in japanese about life (the video features a translation). Every verse is sung by an older singer and ends with an epic finale. Christopher Tin is also the guy who wrote 'Baba Yetu' from Civilization that features a short musical cue that's developed into this full song.

I discorvered this fantastic folk band last year and it's the only song that ever made me cry a little. In the first episode of season 2 of 'Penny Dreadful' this song is used as well where interestingly only the lines by the deceased are sung.

I guess that's what you hear when the sun explodes.

If you have 15 minutes to spare, this is will remind you that even if you hate anime there still can be absolutely divine stuff coming from them.

You should check out their earlier album "Negasonic Teenage Warhead". It's fucking awesome.

Instrumentals? Speechless? Hmm, usually i'm speechless when listening to music, else i can't hear it too good. Lemme see...

NIN instrumentals are weird, but hypnotic...

Freaky piano solo in here...

Last one of theirs because i can't find the one bloody track i'm looking for, instead these will have to do...

Some more cheerful Tipper for bringing out the shapes, those being bubbles!...

This one is like a brain tickle...

Not sure if i did this right, browser being funny.
I would put some guitar soloists in, but once you've heard as much as i have, they all start sounding the same when the fatigue sets in.

Except that Queen is way too British, the US doesn't deserve it as its anthem!

Queen is not too British! They are universally awesome! It is IMPOSSIBLE to nationalize that much flamboyancy! Freddy Mercury's fan fare and awesomeness circumnavigates the gloooooobe!

**NOTE**
Please read the above in your own Brian Blessed voice. I would type it in all caps, but the moderators frown on such things, even when they are required when it comes to BRIAN BLESSED!

Does Brian Blessed use such long words? Short, snappy words sound better in his voice.
"Stand by my Hawkmen"
"Second wave...Diiiiiive!"
"But with this, with THIS...I could rule a thousand planets!"
"Today prudence shall be our watchword. Tomorrow, I shall soak the land in blood!"

And so on.

Do you DARE to accuse the great and powerful BRIAN BLESSED of being incapable of elocution!? How dare you!? *takes a Hawkman gauntlet and slaps you across the face with it!* "Get upon the spikey, moving disk! We shall settle this with whips!"

Sure, he can if he wants, but when Brian Blessed is being the most Brian Blessed, he doesn't.

Doesn't matter that he can act, that's not what people want him to be doing most of the time. Which must get tedious for him.

It doesn't seem to, from various interviews I've seen of the man. He seems to genuinely enjoy his place in pop culture, and has a blast talking about all the goofy things he's done over his career.
