Two of my favorite instrumentals are from Metallica's early days:

Call of Ktulu and Orion off the Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets albums respectively.

Although I'm not a fan of Lars' drumming, being the least talented of the group, the rest of the band's work is stellar on those two pieces. Two songs I'll never get tired of listening to, most defintiely.
