So, I just finished the visual novel Katawa Shoujo. It's a fantastic game and I urge everyone to play it. Long story short the game hit me home in a way I never thought a game could. I won't get into detail but it really enlightened me as to the way I was brought up and I have decided to change for the better. After the game was over initially though, I became depressed. Both at the game and it's unbelievably great story and characters, and the fact that the game was over. After about 3 days of this depression, I decided to turn on my radio which I haven't used in a while. It was on a random radio station I don't listen to since I lended it to my cousin. I switch it on and there's a song I haven't heard in forever playing.

This song instantly made me overjoyed. Not at the fact it's Journey, not the fact that it's one of their best songs, but that the song's meaning came to light to me and nigh connected exactly with the game and the reason for my depression.

I was wondering if any of you had an experience of sadness or whatever emotion, and once you heard a song it instantly made you feel better, and as with my case, inspired you.

Oh man, how could I have forgotten that little gem? I remember seeing that episode as a kid and not knowing the song at all, watched it again about a month ago and just pumping my fists into the air in victorious triumph!

You know how people don't love themselves enough?

... Why are you looking at me like that?

Okay, fine.

Basically any song by Emilie Autumn has the capacity to lift my mood.

[small][sub]'Fight Like A Girl' just happens to make me feel like a badass in the process.[/sub][/small]

This one. Without a doubt. It's so awesome, it inspired me to learn how to play it.

This Will Destroy You; All of their music makes me think, helps me get creative....there's something about them, even if the endings of their songs are often a jarring transition from soft, even melancholy music to heavy guitar. This song though is easily my favorite:

Just marvelous work

There's quite a handful of power metal songs that have this effect on me when I listen to them... Even when I'm having a bad day or are really tired, for the duration of the song I'll feel as if I can do just about anything. Has an additional effect on my travel speed, when listening to them over headphones while outside, I automatically move faster, take longer strides, etc.

Also worth mentioning, since I usually really don't like all kinds of techno, dubstep and what have you, but I find myself listening to Lindsey Stirling. It's happy music that makes me happy.

Lindsey Stirling is fucking amazing. The judges on America's Got Talent are fucking morons. All I'll say on that.
Well, if the world doesn't want her, we internet people keep her all to ourselves. It's ok with me, I'm petty like that. Also, I'm still angry I missed the concert in Germany where she played like ten minutes away from where I work. The reason I missed it? Some asshole reseller bought all the tickts and sold them for four times the original price...

Well there is Blood Brothers, I guess you could call the "inspirational." There is a slight phoenix metaphor in When the Wild Wind Blows so there is that. But I am going to go with "I Was Born For This" form the game Journey. I love that OST.

Ben Howard - Keep Your Head Up.

Does what it says on the tin; a happy uplifting song, and he's got a great voice.

In fact, go and listen to all of his music. Now. Not all of it is happy, but it is all fantastic.

I have an entire play list of music devoted to this very purpose however as I can't be bothered linking every song from it I will post a couple here.
