Songs that would vastly improve games

I recently got my hands on Fallout: New Vegas. I'm really enjoying the iron sight aiming, hardcore mode, and the sheer mind-numbing insanity of the Legion. It's all solid, but I find that it's lacking somewhat in personality. Mr. New Vegas isn't much of a replacement for Three Dog, who cannot ever be replaced, and Caesar is kind of TOO insane for me to take seriously like Eden. And that is what I found myself disliking about New Vegas. The music stations are just...music stations, with only about four songs between them. And I thought to myself that throwing in some Wherever I May Roam by Metallica would be not only bitchin', it'd fit well with the gameplay since you spend most of it walking around.

So Escapists, what game would be improved by whatever song or artist you care to name contributing to the soundtrack?

Imagine a PW game with this kind of music, perfectly in tune with the table slams and objections. It'll be beautiful!

A partnership between Trent Reznor, Radiohead, Bjork and Aphex Twin would be perfect for any game set in a futuristic setting.

Captcha - strike three. Lies, I just smacked a grand slam.

I find it odd you chose New Vegas considering it has one of the best video game soundtracks ever. Anyway I think it's always better to listen the games track.

He isn't insane though... or atleast not THAT insane, have you even talked to him? He is actually very smart and has a plan. I don't see how he is any more insane than Eden. Really, it is a guy who wants to kill all of America(Everyone is somewhat irradiated) versus someone who just wants to conquer, not kill anyone just because the are a little irradiated.

I find that this will improve many types of game in almost any situation.

For example, in Dark Souls...

I think that if they added some kind of sonic blast shout to Skyrim that had this guy's singing dubbed over it, the game would be even more awesome. Specifically his incredibly high singing at 0:58, 2:14 and 2;:56.

When I played through Saints Row 2, on the mission where you're driving Gat to the hospital after he got shish kabobed, the radio track that happened to be playing in the car was The Final Countdown. It started as I got in the car, finished as I arrived, and it wasn't a scripted event. That mission was probably my favourite in the game for that very reason...it fit so incredibly well and made it unusually epic. It probably should have been like that for everyone.

Hmm.

If I were to add any song to Fallout: New Vegas, it would probably be this:

Not as a song on the radio, but more like something that plays during the credits.

I feel it fits the game. The central conflict pretty much ends up deciding the future of both New Vegas and the Mojave. You fight for what you believe is right for the people of the wastes. Whether it be a world where people will live under a democracy, a world where there is absolute order and control, a world in which one economic genius will have control over an entire city in exchange for a chance to bring humanity to the stars, or a world where people are free to choose how they live for better or for worse.

Whatever you decide, you will have to fight for it. And at the end, a brave new world shall emerge...

Of course, I could be completely missing the point of the song. Who knows. :/

If there's one song that NEEDED to be in New Vegas, it's
Seriously, why is this not in New Vegas?!

I think we should just let Gav make all the songs for Mass Effect 4.

Why has that man had no Cameo appeances in games, music-wise?

Pretty much this. Just let Gav make the soundtrack to any game. It would be automatically better.

So you think Metallica would fit in well with the 50's swing music and the faux Post-WWII setting? Okay, I am in complete disagreement with that but it is your choice...

OT: I would go with Silent Hill and use Stalagghs music, an already scary game mixed with the most extreme noise music can only lead to pants shitting terror.

Yeah I was really surprised this song was not in the game, they even had a faction of Elvis Impersonators which is odd considering. I think, and I agree, that they wanted to keep the music from the 40's and 50's to set the tone while this was released in the 60's.

I said GAMEPLAY, not setting, and frankly, most of the swing music they used on the OST was from after 1950 anyhow.
