I searched, and there was nothing specifically along these lines.

What song, in terms of sheer musical brilliance, or amazing lyrics, or a fantastic combination of the two, do you feel everyone should hear before they die? Not in terms of "your favourite song" but in terms of what it offers to other people.

I fear that my contributions to this thread will be insignificant, but I have two, by the same band - Rise Against. Okay, so maybe I'm a bit shallow and hypocritical, but that's just me. :p

An acoustic song which deals with war. The ending hits me and the lyrics remind me why COD4 is as close to war as I'll ever get

I just love this song. The final song on their fourth album, not only is it a good conclusion but the lyrics speak to me.

Offer up your own ideas, preferably better ones than mine -_-

I don't think there are any songs anyone really needs to hear. There's a lot of good music out there, but people's tastes are so diverse it's pointless to just pick one track, or even a handful.

So in stead, I'm just going to post a song that hopefully will make people laugh (well maybe not the song itself, but the video made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it).

Just to screw with minds.
That is the sound of your mind dissolving.
You were totally unprepared

Truly inspiring song, there are many people should listen to. But this is one of the coolest.

Seriously, if you need to listen to these, you must be deaf:

Bohemien Rhapsody by Queen

Soldiers Poem by Muse, I want to die to that song,
and I am not even a Muse fan.

Hands down, must listen. Couldn't get the entire studio version (23 and a half minutes clearly too long for YouTube) so I picked the best part from the Pompeii version.

This is a tough one... I'll give it a shot though... I'm a little older than most of you so this may not make sense to you...

Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah (Or the Jeff Buckley Cover of it) For those that don't know, this is one of the most covered songs ever written. If you don't know who Leonard Cohen is, do a damn Google search.

Ok, so I am just stopping there.. I had a list of over a dozen songs, but the fact is there is just so much great music out there. To list them all and give reasons why would just take to long.
