As the title suggests, have you ever had a song that you absolutely hated but for some reason kept deliberately listening to? Lately, this has been the case with me and Train's "Drive By" -

Now, I do not want to beat anyone over the head with ponies, but there is some context that needs to be explained here. I went to BronyCon 2012 last summer and had an absolutely amazing time. It was not only my first con, but it was also the first time I flew on a plane, went to the U.S. East Coast (I live in the Mid-West), and most of all was the first time my then-21 year old self had managed to save up money and work my ass off to go on a trip like this. I even managed to score an interview with one of the show staff for nothing more than my Youtube! XD

Now what does this have to do with the topic at hand? Well, it was around this time that this atrocious song of Train's kept playing on the radio and made me want to punch the lead singer in the face, to put it lightly. I absolutely despised this song, which was made much worse by it's earworm nature. However, lately I heard this song again and it reminded me of that trip to New Jersey. Now the nostalgia of that trip is making me want to actually hear this song again, just because it brings back vivid memories of the con that I had such a wonderful time at. I still hate this song with a passion btw, but lately my desire to relive those three days has taken over and I can't stop listening to it. I know what the concept of "guilty pleasures" are before anyone points it out, and this may indeed qualify as that. However, it's less the song itself that I end up enjoying and more the association with BronyCon that makes me want to listen to it, so I don't know if that really makes it qualify a guilty pleasure. Either case, I still hate this song and can't get enough of it at the same time.

Back to the topic at hand, have you experienced something similar - a song you utterly despise being something you just wanted to binge out on at the same time? What was it like for you, and has the song gone full guilty-pleasure status for you or did you wear out of it after a while? Were there some good memories associated with the song, and if so what are they?

Captcha: "face the music". Fuck you, Captcha. >:) >XD

Everything on my playlist made by Glee. I don't like every single one of their songs (I only listen to a handful of them), but goddamn are they easy listening. Some of the time, they've got me to listen to people I cannot stand (like Michael Jackson) just because their voices are so mellow, neutral and easy to listen to.

Everything about Glee is self-inflicted masochism for me. Hate the show, still force myself to watch it to see how they handle LGBT+ representation. Spoilers: they do so very, very poorly. I had an angry fit last week where they pulled such a horrendously shitty plot resolution that I had to side with the MRAs. I had never, ever done that before. I felt so dirty.

Hm... There is some kids' music that I like but still think is kind of dorky. That counts, I guess.

Anything made by Your Favorite Martian. I actually really like the songs, but i also hate them because Your Favorite Martian is RayWilliamJohnson, the epitome of what´s wrong with Youtube.

I love cats, I love every kind of cat, I just wanna hug all of them, but I can't hug every cat, can't hug every cat.

That schmoyoho track just calls out to me, each and every day.

This cover is insane, I totally love Turbowolf. Also, dat video.

Nevermind that it definitely sounds like 'I am a gay man, I am a time bomb' rather than 'I am a caveman, I am a time bomb'. It's still more audible than the lyrics on the Lightning Bolt version.

"SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND!"

I HATE this song to my very core, but everyone keeps listening to it, radio and otherwise. So even if it's unintentional, it's always in my head.

"Nothing suits me like a suit"

Been trying to force that song out of my brain for 2 weeks and finally just started putting it on repeat so that it just becomes a background hum. It has yet to work.

Me and a friend of mine have gotten to the point where we sing the first few seconds as a greeting. We can't stand it, though.

That's just inconceivable. I can understand deliberately watching bad movies, but bad songs?

There's this old Swedish jazz song called "Ingenting går upp mot gamla Skåne" by Siw Malmkvist. She sings a few short bits here and there with a Scania dialect, and it sounds awful.
