Have you ever had a song about something you don't like but liked the song?Or you hate a certain genre but like a song or singer in it?For example I dislike pop rap and hip hop etc,.and yet I love most songs by Mariah Carey, and I like Face Drop by Sean Kingston.Do you have any songs you enjoy but can't quite tell why?

I love this song because the meaning it has,it was the first song by Mariah Carey I listened to unbiasedly and I loved it instantly.

Well as a metal head, it's a given that I despise pop...and country...and rap...Oh ok I'm narrow minded and I know it. But it's strange, for a guy with Five Finger Death Punch and Arch Enemy on his play list, I've got a soft spot for 80's era pop.

I too am a big metal head and generally hate pop music, but the song by Lady Gaga (who I have a specific distaste for on account of her generally disturbing persona) called Bad Romance (I think) is... well it's just so damn catchy!

Not so my friend. On my iPod, I have Testament right next to Billy Idol (not necessarily RIGHT next to it but you get my point). Earlier Judas Priest stuff, up to and including British Steel (which some consider to be one of the best metal albums of all time), sounds very pop-y. And their album, turbo, is like 90% pop. So strange how two completely opposite genres still share so much...

I'm generally known for hating all music of the past decade, except for metal. To my secret shame, though, there happens to be 1 Tailor Swift song that I really like. I'll be listening to Rammstein or Strapping Young Lad, Pink Floyd or Queen if I'm in a classical mood, while complaining about the music the dangkids listen to these days. Then "You Belong With Me" comes on and I try to subtly pause my iPod and listen to it. Then the radio goes back to the normal deluge of terrible pop music, and I once again distance myself from it.

There's a couple Katy Perry songs I like but I think it's because see seems really hot and sexy in the music videos. Seduction, what can you say, it works.

I generally dislike rap, but the instrumentals and lyrics to this make this one of my favourite songs of all time. And the video is awesome in a depressing way.
Hadlebars? That song's genius.I remember hearing it when it first came out.

Pretty much describes my life to a 99% accuracy. Meanwhile, screamo and hardstyle is my usual game.

Man, I don't care what anyone says about the rest of their catalog, Judas Priest has Screaming for Vengeance. That album just wins.

Metal is definitely the king of music, but anyone who says they hate old-school Madonna is a dirty liar.

I myself am a Defenders of the Faith man. The Sentinel is certainly one of the best songs ever written. But Screaming for Vengeance definitely has the strongest opening few tracks of any album... ever.

I rank The Hellion/Electric Eye right up there with my personal favorite openers. Battery and Holy Wars.

I also enjoy a good deal of Metalcore, which is definitely looked down upon in the Metal community.

I gotta go with Painkiller on this one.

To actually answer the OT, "Get Back" by Ludacris. I hate rap on so many levels, but the credit sequence of Tropic Thunder made this song awesome.

I actually had to play the guitar for one of my students while she sang Train's "Hey Soul Sister." Hasn't been out of my head since, and it's a far cry from what I normally listen to.
