I see what you did there.

OT: PSN is down? Oh, dear...*remembers that he owns a 360* Oh, nevermind. Still, sorry for you guys, maybe Sony will finally get their act together and stop blaming others for their incompetence.

I can't be bothered to come up with an original response to your fanboyism, so I'll just steal a response from smeghead25 conveniently located five posts above:

"I just looooove how all the Xbox fanboys are claiming that this is a great reason to own an Xbox, even though this pretty much happened to the Xbox for 11 days back in 2007 AND was just because of a shitty software update."

Oh, really? I was making a joke. No one ever said the 360 was without its errors as well.

Forgive me. I missed the humor. It sounded to me as if you were standing in a glass house and throwing stones.

All is forgiven. And I often seem across as that, so I understand how that could be interpreted as such.

Actually, there's a lot of truth in that statement. Not too long ago all the "fat" PS3s were unable to connect to PSN (can't remember if they could still connect to the internet) due to a minor programming error that made the system misread the date.
Ah yes, the first ApocalyPS3. That one was utterly hilarious, Sony not having it count leap years. XD
Personally, I think we're looking at a splinter group from Anon
That is impossible. Anon does not have splinter groups, Anon is a splinter group. Countless people from numerous backgrounds with every conceivable ideologies, with some inconceivable.

I think Sony is just trying to turn attention away from their own massive screw up. XD

But, ehh, that's just me. :p
That wasn't funny. I was big into MAG at the time and wanted to play with some of the people I had met playing it. When I tried to log on, I couldn't. Actually, I think I could still use the web browser function, because I remember testing that and then using it to search for an explanation. Of course, when I realized what happened, I just did something else. Something that didn't require connection to PSN to play. Like Heavy Rain. Oh, wait.

Well, maybe I wasn't clear with my original post. A different splinter group from Anon. Yes, Anon has already said that it didn't do this, but it is almost impossible for the group to make that claim that no one in their "organization" did this. It would be like me speaking for you.
[sub]By the way, your favorite food is now pizza.[/sub]

While I don't think it is impossible that Sony just screwed up, I want to give them the credit that they wouldn't just throw out wild accusations. And honestly they haven't. As much as we have been saying, "Oh may Gawd, they iz blaming teh Anonamoose!" Sony has made no such claim. Originally they said, that it MAY be the work of a outside group. Unless there has been another update or press release that I've yet to read (just got online) they never blamed any particular organization. And all they are saying now, is that it is the result of an outside group. Yes, Anon is the most likely suspects, but I wouldn't say they are the only ones. For example, hackers that are not affiliated with Anon. I'm pretty sure they are out there.

Whatever, Sony. You just keep flingin' bullshit, and we'll see how that goes for you.
It's easy to call people liars without proof.

But it cheapens you.
Well, there's no proof that their story is true, either.
Yes there IS proof, it just obviously they cannot divulge it, I mean no company is that stupid to show their hand on how they figured it out with an ongoing investigation. They also can't claim to be have been attacked by outside entities if they have not, that is a serious offence to claim a crime has taken place when it has not.

Don't be under any illusions, casual slander won't hurt your enemies more than it will cheapen your own word.

how is "external intrusions" = hacker? could be anything as far as i can tell.

At no point did I use the term "hacker", and that was deliberate on my part mostly because "hacker" is a meaningless term now from how much it has been misused.

I don't get this. If AnonOps is doing a massive attack on PSN via DDOS, wouldn't there be evidence of organizing from the myriad Anon sites? I doubt they are coordinated enough to to carry out massive attacks in total secrecy.

I'm gonna stick with my theory...

Guys! Don't you get it? Its not Anon!

IT'S VALVE!

I mean, how many PS3 users got Portal 2, couldn't log into PSN, and then went on to activate their PC copy, saw the deals on Steam, and went on an impulse shopping spree?

Somewhere, Gabe is going, "ALL YOUR BASES ARE BELONG TO US!"
You can't activate the PC copy unless your PS3 copy has been played whilst connected to the internet. Since the PSN is down, no PC copy and no online play. Seriously, this couldn't have happened next week?
Er, okay, how about if I rephrase it a little...

"How many PS3 users got Portal 2, couldn't log into PSN, and then went on to activate their PC copy, saw they couldn't do that either, and went on an impulse shopping spree to feel better?" :D

Lets see. Group of asshats vow they'll bring down the PSN. People point out this is a real dick move to do. Eventually they say they'll stop. PSN has issues for two weeks, then finally gets shut down.

"It wasn't us! It wasn't us!" "Sony is just looking for someone to blame."

Are you fucking kidding me? Fuck them and all the idiots trying to defend them. Now you got people calling themselves "anon" giving out interviews, making youtube videos and shit. This was never the old Anon, just some idiotic fanboy script kiddies playing hacker while some real doucheshit managed to break into an administrative account and fuck up everything.

On the plus side, when the script kiddies get caught it'll be interesting to see if they support Bubba jailbreaking their assholes while they await trial.

My point was the claim of a crime being committed was not proof that one was as i have no idea if that is what they are claiming.

Is it me, or does it seem I did this?
Oh, wait, I DID do this. From a Library, of course. You can't get tracked now. Thats an important thing to remember when taking down an Asian gaming company. In fact, Nintendo, your next. Get ready.

Well this is a message to Sony... don't piss off the hackers.

Once one group get through then it will become known how to break a system open like a twig with only 2 fingers...

One collective group get info on it (Anonymous) and they OR a nefarious member with ill intentions can break off and then do whatever they like.

There are 3 possibilities of what is or has happened:
1) Anonymous are aiming to destroy Sony.
2) Some group has gotten of some information, either of their own, gotten it off a break off of anonymous or it is a break off of anonymous entirely.
3) Sony are lying as part of some propaganda war... though ultimately futile as that won't hold up in court.

Number 2 is the most likely... mostly because its quite broad.

I wonder if anybody is now rethinking that whole "PSN > Xbox Live cause it's Freeeee!" thing.

Right about now I'm betting that $5 monthly fee doesn't seem all that ridiculous...

To be fair if any of the PSN V XLive is to occur then both need to be hacked by the same group before we can truly see which stands up better.

The argument you make so far is that because Solder A was killed because he had people firing at him while Soldier B is alive and he didn't have people firing at him... therefore B is superior. Na. Both must be put in the same situation.

No, that's silly.
What I'm saying is Army A is dealt a terrible blow by the enemy and is unable to protect its property because it lost a soldier and didn't have the funding or infrastructure set aside to endure such a loss. Army B loses a soldier but since they are well funded by the people they are paid to provide protection from, they are and have been able to keep their troops in armor, weapons, and to hire new soldiers immediately to restore order or prevent order from being lost to begin with.
