Couldn't agree more. And I really don't understand why. Before the Wii was released, Sony and Microsoft were talking shit, but when it was released, Microsoft shut up and got down to it. Sony however, just couldn't stop talking smack about everyone else, and are still going now. It's getting a bit much.Altorin said:Cod MW2:

I think that if there is a genre to be worth "relying on" it's shooters.
all news about Sony these days seems to just be ridiculous Sour Grapes.
It's ok for them to be Sony Fanboys I guess, but they don't have to be flaming sony fanboys.
Looking down your nose at the competition only works if you're in Nintendo's shoes, and really, they don't. They do things differently but they don't sit there and say "lol, l2not suck sony/microsoft, ell oh ell"
Really once Gears 3 comes out and the PS3 gets Steamworks, the influx of shooters on both consoles will be about even, then there won't be anything left to say other than "shooters are more popular on the 360".Scrumpmonkey said:Next week; "Sony; Look at our amazing shooters!".
MGS, SOCOM, Killzone, Uncharted and Resistance are the backbone of this generation's Playstation library. They are the games Sony has pushed for. Microsoft no longer even has Bungine on the books yet Sony manages to say this whilst having 4 whole developemt houses geared towards making shooters.
Why does Sony still run it's mouth? It's been woefull since the PS2 was announced and don't get me started on the "4D, 120FPS, dual 1080p" bullshit. Sony. You have a good product. Shut up and get on with it.
If you can go through an entire game killing like, no one i wouldnt call it a shooter, because shooting isn't the main focus.cerebus23 said:yes i am entirely serious, well aside from the teen boys jab.
non AAA fps games are cheap and quick to make, AAA fps games take as heavy an investment as any other AAA game. but a b and c grade shooters are just lazy and cheap games that can be pushed out the door in a hurry. and if they sell decent they make money. your halos and cods and kz etc need to be hits to make money.
you mean to say that killzone, uncharted and not triple AAA titles? MGS is not even a shooter it is a stealth action game and critics would say it is just an interactive movie but it is not a fps. lest learn your games please. sony does not pump out the fps of the month like microsoft does, certainly not the sheer degree that ms does it.
This is exactly what I was going to say. How many 360-exclusive shooters are there anyway? Seriously, I can only think of Halo, Gears, Left 4 Dead and Mass Effect (which is going multi-platform so it shouldn't count), and that list isn't as long as the PS3's list of shooter exclusives. I'm thinking Sony's just pissed that the 360 has much, MUCH more commercial success in the genre than they do.Scrumpmonkey said:Next week; "Sony; Look at our amazing shooters!".

It's not like most intelligent adults would pay for Xbox Live Gold themselves, so that money has to be coming from the kids' parents.Altorin said:that sort of attitude (even in jest) is actually really detrimental to the gaming industry, as it's about the opposite of what is actually true, but it's what everyone believesBooze Zombie said:I thought consoles were reliant on 12 year olds with twitch reflexes and their parent's disposable income?
That's the funny thing though, MS relies on shooters, and the 360 has a much weaker shooter library than the PS3.Thunderhorse31 said:This is exactly what I was going to say. I count it as half and half.Robbie McLennan said:yeh i agree, although i do like my ps3, they do have a lot of shooters, but they also have, fable, crackdown, forza and... would you count mass effect as a shooter?
I was trying to follow this analogy, but I got really fucking hungry.Booze Zombie said:But yes, shooting games are like sandwiches in cafes, they're the basic which you know everyone's going to buy because it's something easy you can get into.
Only problem with video games is that the sandwiches cost just as much as the damn lobster thermidor...
Sorry about that.Rusty Bucket said:I was trying to follow this analogy, but I got really fucking hungry.
I don't mean to say that sony does not make AAA shooters. However, there are Xbox exclusive AAA shooters aswell as PS3 ones. You used Halo as an example. So, both produce AAA shooters.cerebus23 said:yes i am entirely serious, well aside from the teen boys jab.
