Executives talking with his grown up head on? And he's from Sony? Is the world going to end now? Coz I want to finish the last of us first.

Yes, we understand that you don't just blow Microsoft out of the water in one go, or even maybe after a long series of PR nightmares that would make EA blush, but it is fair to say for now that they are properly Xboned.

Seems Sony took the lessons of last gen to heart. I may yet end up buying a PS4.

My feeling is they should spot talking now. The more they yap, the chances of them saying something stupid rises. Don't be Microsoft, stay classy Sony.

Sony has a history of retroactively removing features used as selling points from their consoles so their words are cheap.
It is advisable not to trust a single thing they say.
We'll see what they will actually do.
I'm glad someone else sees this. Sony has done horrible things in the past but right now due to M$ utter dickshittery people are hailing Sony as some kind of saviors.

Sony are all about the bottom line, just like everyone else, the only major difference is that right now they are acting a whole lot smarter than M$. Currently i have a PS4 preordered but i'm not going to forget for one minute the shit Sony have pulled in the past

How is it that the company in the stronger position between the two is currently the one wig ore humility than the company that is worse off?

I strongly suggest they initially sell games at $60 as well, even if they do have to boost the price on them later (and possible even on some at launch). Having most games sell for $60 would be good enough for now. If they really wanted to THRASH xbox though, they could offer a lower price for digital versions of games (downloaded through the network and not purchased with a disc/manual etc). Pass the savings directly on to the customer there...and yet again they would be putting another nail into the Xbox Coffin.

I see no reason the PS4 games can't be atleast the same as XBone if not cheaper, the reason PS4 was so much more was the cell processor, the issue isn't there for the PS4 since it uses the same AMD x86 processor that PC's and XBone use.

Congrats Sony, a small group of nerds who don't actually matter think you "won" E3. In reality, your mistake is lending credence to the idea that you are any different than MS as these sheep will just as quickly become wolves upon your first broken promise. MS won E3 and will win this generation just like the last for one simple reason, they aren't marketing to YOU. They don't care about your nerd rage, they don't care who thing the PS4 is "ZOMG Awesome" and they certainly don't care about a dog and pony show that no one will remember 3 weeks from now.

XBOX Live and the multimedia experience created by MS has no equal in current technology. Sony is focusing on "games" because they know they suck at everything else. They know where the real money is to be made and understand that their piece of that pie is always going to be smaller than MS. The best thing about MS strategy is that it completely neuters the fanboy mentality.

They still have games, they still have exclusives and they still have the lions share of paid service subscriptions. They also have a multimedia device that has no equal at this time.

heh, I am amazed at how much people think stuff like this matters.

I thought that, too. The big contention has been around games and services, rather than DA NUMBAZ. Nice to see that.

I really hope this is true, because I'd rather them not decided "fuck it, we've won. We can stop trying now."

The hardware is more than comparable... it's practically identical.

However, Sony has pretty much delivered answers to most questions that had us being worried about for quite some time, and Microsoft seems to have chosen to fight on the side of CHAOS, and it left its ruler at home. Instead, they've made up a new measurement unit, and they've chosen to call it WERKJWJNW#*$.?. We have to wait and see how this plays out.

Microsoft seems to have studied all the epic mistakes of Apple, EA, the Communist Party of Russia, Shub Niggurath and Genghis Khan, but their thoughts seem to have gotten carried away a bit somewhere around the middle.

My money's on Sony.

My one major concern is how long this is going to last. Whilst yes at the moment Sony is not forcing anything too unpleasant down our throats and have decided that not every part of their console is a military secret (Seriously Microsoft you don't need to hold that much information back your are releasing an 'Entertainment' console not the MI6 database), I fear that should someone crack the PS4 or if there is a level of piracy on the system that causes publishers to shy away from it Sony will not hesitate to place the same kind of DRM and controls on their system through mandatory patches. This comes from the OtherOS on the PS3 (Which allowed you to use the PS3 as a full PC essentially) but Sony decided to patch this out of ALL versions of its console once some people discovered an exploit through it, despite using it relatively heavily as a marketing tool.
On a side note I wanted to love this generation I really did I was ready for a new console to get some more impressive games out there, but the fact that one company 'won' E3 because they announced they would keep selling us games (not licensing them) and they wouldn't try to royally roger us makes me sad at the state my beloved hobby has ended up in.

What alternate dimension did you come from? The 360 was/is struggling for second place, nowhere near first. And it's pretty unanimous that MS got slaughtered at E3.

There is nothing that Microsoft is offering right now that Sony doesn't offer for cheaper. Like Netflix for example. With Microsoft you have to buy Gold to be able to access an already paid subscription. Sony there is no additional pay wall. The TV its going to offer requires a cable box and an existing subscription so thats useless. Everything Microsoft offers right now is with Sony as well and almost every smart phone and computer out there. With a cheaper price point by a hundred dollars Sony is blowing Microsoft out of the water. Its leading in pre sales by a three to two amount. That information is almost a week old and could have increased for Sony by now. Its bundles are even cheaper than the Xbox One with the most expensive bundle including a game and a year subscription to PS+. So yeah E3 does matter. Its a large public event that is getting even the attention of regular news media that helps to inform the basic public.

Also the PS4 has more powerful hardware. Not by much but enough. The only hardware that Microsoft offers that is more powerful is the Kinect over the Eye.

You are right about one thing though. Microsoft is nuerting fanboys. Their own. Everything they have said so far has gotten both regular consumers and the more dedicated gamers to look at the X1 and turn away from everything it offers.

Why would you say MS WON last Generation. By all reasoning Nintendo Dominated the previous console generation. MS and Sony were just fighting for second place in terms of sales.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't it become quite different if we measure game sales in addition to console sales? I used to work at GameStop and all of our numbers showed that the attach rate for Wii was VASTLY lower than for Xbox360 or PS3. Sony and Microsoft gets licensing money for every game sold, right? That would change the rankings by quite a bit, I think.
