(By the way, nice job, PC master race! You're certainly striking a bold move against the Big 3 by picking one of them and supporting them financially! Truly, you are the wise ones.)
As if the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race are the only ones who use Windows.

Well, yes, we do use Windows, but thats purely because we have no viable alternatives. Yes theres Linux, but many games require its Windows Emulator to even work. And SteamOS might rock for gaming, but its pretty much garuanteed to suck for everything else.

Not to mention, GPCGMR only account for a tiny fraction of Windows users.

to be fair, i really dont give a shit if they fail.
not because they are console manufacturers, but because microsoft and sony act like douchy fratboys.
You're gonna tell me the whole "master race" shtick doesn't sound douchy and fratty as well?

Speaking of the games, Xbox One exclusives at launch look like shit. Ryse? Dead Rising 3? Forza? Not one of those even vaguely interests me. I don't even care about Killzone, but it looks far more interesting than ANY of those titles. Enough that I am thinking of picking it up. And Sony has a nicer variety which aren't all grey and brown, including one game, Knack, that I could feel comfortably letting a child actually play. Which I think is just as important as anything else in this. Which game do you think parents would buy for little Timmy? Knack or Dead Rising 3?
Brilliant idea for pre-ordering. I really need to learn to do that. I could have all my games pre-ordered well over a year in advance if I did something like that (assuming they go up for pre-order at announcement).

Also, just to let you know: Knack is actually a pretty solid game. I managed to get a chance to play a small bit of it, it is actually pretty solid and kinda difficult. My little brother also loves it (He is around 7). I wish we could have more of these cutesy little platformers.
Thanks. It really made the sting feel much less painful (don't feel $20 a week nearly as much as $400). Plus, the Gamestop is right along my way to the grocery store, so it was a minor detour to stop in and put down a little money. My remaining balance is $27, which will be paid off this weekend on my weekly chores.
For a game, you could probably make that $5 every two weeks and have similar results.

Yeah, it looks good. I compare it to Crash or Spyro in my mind. My biggest concern is that I don't think there be much replay value in it, and it will likely only have about 10 hours of gameplay. Plus, I do expect it to be a free game on PS+ at some point. And if I can only afford one game at launch, I will probably want one with online multiplayer for longevity's sake.
Knack is one of the three launch titles I am interested in for the PS4. And that is despite the lack of multiplayer.

Have you seen some of the titles Sony is offering? Like Octodad? They seem to have no problem with colorful and odd games. Which is a strong point in their favor, I think. I mean, there are colors other than brown and grey. Who knew?

Sony will be fine. Ok not fine, but the PS4 won't be a failure. It's good to see Sony finally getting mud on their hands though because the PS4 isn't this shining diamond from the gods.

Every press release, FAQ and announcement by Microsoft and Sony makes the Wii U look better.

I really think both consoles will be close to one another after a year or so, both companies have done really dumb things over the last few years, its just that Microsoft has done them more recently. I know with how Sony changed PS+ and how I am not confident in giving them any personal information its really a coin toss to which one I prefer.

Right now my plans are going to be that I am going to use my PC I bought in 2008 (with a minor video card upgrade last year) to play games and maybe when they become cheaper I might buy a console.

I'm more shocked that they're blocking the media server function, that's pretty much killed it as a media center as they'd like it to be.

Bonus answer: They did somewhat win the console war, as I understand it they did sell more Genesis/Mega Drive units over all, the thing that killed them was the problems between SEGA US and JAP having issues, namely trying to stuff the 32x out before the Saturn came out, then there were dumb moves with that too.

Well sony doesn't have to do much other then getting COD running at 1080P and MS only managing 720P to change the minds of people that want to spend bucket loads of money to have the most powerful and best experience that isn't a pc.

Wait, despite its lack of multiplayer? I find that to be a selling point.

I am glad with the bright colours. It is the main reason I am going to buy Killzone as the original trailer just looked really nice with those bright blues and reds.
I apologize. I wasn't very clear I'm afraid.

The thing is that if I can only buy one game, I want it to be one that I can get plenty of use out of. Knack is not a game that I believe I will be able to play a month or more after the fact. Killzone and Battlefield, however, I should still get some use out of due to the multiplayer content. I have no problem with games not having multiplayer, and indeed would like games that don't need it to not force it into the mix. But it's that lack of long term playability that I think hurts Knack for me.

Think of it as a math equation.
If I play Knack for ten hours, that means each hour was worth $6. Which is not bad. But if I play Killzone for 100 hours, that makes each hour worth 60 cents. That is not a bad investment. Later on, this won't be as much of an issue as there will be a good sized library to choose from.

I'll probably get Knack at some point. Perhaps after a price drop or as part of PS Plus if they give it away. But I'll probably grab it up, eventually.

Also, colors are a nice addition. Why have all those reds, blues, greens, and such, if you're not gonna use them?

Sorry, Nintendo. If you don't believe that, maybe this will convince you: The Metroid game in Nintendo land is a better Halo than any Halo game will ever be. And Ryse ain't got shit on the Zelda game.

I know, right. "Sony is still not doing anything stupid. Do you really want to buy a console from a company that would just rest on its laurels like that?"

The 360 started off with some strong exclusives before losing almost all of them to multiplatform development, turning the console into basically a weak PC. Shoveling money into EA's gaping maw until they declared Titanfall a legit exclusive was a very smart move, but I don't know if MS can realistically afford to buy the 3-4 additional first tier exclusives they'd need to equal the games Sony will eventually field through its in-house developers and first party partners.

I guess we'll see what happens, but I think most people would opt for the PS4 lineup in 6-12 months provided they aren't gonzo for Titanfall.
