Yeah, this generation kinda passed me by as well.Soviet Steve said:Still waiting for a good reason to get the PS3 or Xbox 360. I'm guessing they're never going to get around to that.
You mean the game that took three years to make, nearly ran out of money, and had a dev team of 18 people? You're just making my point for me.Foolproof said:Whats Journey, if not the truest expression of the open world?DarkArk said:I'm rather sick of people continuing to spit this out like it's some kind of truth. It's not. Giving developers more processing power means that they can do more.Simalacrum said:Graphics doesn't necessarily mean innovation.
How many indie open world games are there?Indie games truly flourished in this generation, and they certainly didn't need powerful consoles to achieve that they did
I love your straw. My point was that open world games are hard to make, because they require a lot of effort. Journey fits the bill on that, taking a long time to develop, having a much larger team than most indie games, and the devs nearly went bankrupt making it and so had to cut back their ideas considerably to finish it.Foolproof said:Because if it isn't easy, fuck it, just give up. Thats the independent way.

On a more serious note, this better have backwards compatibility and the ability to bring forward PSN downloads from PS3 accounts for me to be even remotely interested. If it does I will happily trade in my PS3 and pay the difference, otherwise they can forget it.
I think the 10 year plan includes a period of several years after the next console comes out where they still produce the last. That was how they were counting the PS2 when they said it had a similar life cycle. Games will drop off quickly, but there'll probably be quite a few projects that didn't finish in time or who decided to go with the larger install base instead of a new console.SonOfVoorhees said:PS3 was only released in November 2006, or so wikipedia says. So if the PS4 is released November 2013 then the PS3 will only be 7 years old, so much for the 10 year plan. I dont know what other gamers think by the PS3 has a lot of life in it, as does the 360...atleast another few years. An like with all the PS consoles, the amazing titles start coming out later in its life once the developers work out how to use it proper.....as all PS consoles were never user friendly for game developers.
Hopefully, fingers crossed, they will create a big WOW factor, especially this early in the year. If there is no WOW, then im not sure if the PS4 will succeed. I kinda with they wait till E3 and just go nuts with new tech, new games and really sell/hype that crap out of it. Somehow, i get the feeling on 20th Feb will be a vid showing the PS4 logo and "The future of gaming is here this fall" and that will be it. Hope not.
Well int erms of playstation, maybe the Resistance trilogy. But otherwise there are some great games, but nothing screamed classic to me this gen on the PS3 as an exclusive.Raiyan 1.0 said:You know, with every new generation of consoles, we see HD rereleases of previous generation classics.
I wonder what games from this generation will be worthy enough for gamers to rebuy them all over again on the new system...
Uhh... go talk to Apple about pacing themselves, not Sony.Cid SilverWing said:The next PlayStation needs to be delayed at the very least another 5 years. It's not been long enough since the PS3 was released. Pace yourself already, Sony.
And it's a console that hasn't even been stretched to the limit. He has a point.Eri said:Is this sarcasm? I'd lay money down on the "blue" if I thought you were serious. I'll bet you an e-cookie that it's going to resemble this againdontlooknow said:Well, I reckon that the next Playstation is going to be blue, have four buttons that are marked with an ex, a square, a triangle, and a circle, and will probably use some kind of electricity.
