I see people............what's the problem here? Seriously, I see no problem with the people depicted here.

OH GOD MY EYES. THEY BURN. THEY'RE HIDEOUS!

Seriously, these people are just regular people, if not slightly pandering to the Geek/Nerd stereotype. And I'd hardly call Sony's marketing terrible, this is the company that introduced Kevin Butler to the world.
Sony Online Entertainment is a completely different story. Actually, I don't think they even have a marketing department.

@O P... I watched and didn't see any ugly people. I want my money back.

Their ad didn't use super-models! RAAAAAAGE.

Seriously, what's the deal? It's a bunch of kids and you're saying they're all ugly and Sony thinks we're fucked.

Even if the people in the ad were ugly, which I wouldn't say was true at all, why would that be a problem? Some nerds are ugly. I am. For once, it would be nice if an advertisement was aimed at people like me instead of the eye-roll-inducing models on most ads.

they're not. and in case you hadn't noticed; gamers aren't usually supermodels anyway. it's just a bunch of kids, get over it!
Its funny that instead of trying to discuss the video, and sony's marketing scheme for their consoles, the thread has to become concerned about what the OP thinks, unless you really need to flex your e-cock i'd suggest you jog on.

I don't get that vibe from that ad, that looks like an wide spattering of average teenagers to me.
What does bother me about that ad is the whole "Real games for real gamers." bullshit.
I've been gaming longer than most of those piss-ass kids have been ALIVE and the PSP has yet to make more than 1 game that interests me. So don't give me that!

Those were all middle-schoolers. Not necessarily ugly.

But I think I should just go on the record as saying I'm absolutely gorgeous.

We are discussing both. ...We don't have a problem with either. And we think it's dumb that you do.

Discussed!

I know right! where was all the acne and excessive amounts of fat us true members of society have! those damn nerds and their thin waists, smooth skin and perceft hair!
but no seriously, are you freakin kidding me? those kids were B+ in looks in AT LEAST, future movie stars the lot of em, real life people don't like nearly as nice those guys! I mean look at the hair on :04 or the smooth skin of :06, or the kick ass clothes of :11! they look allot nicer then you ever will I bet.
Actually this ad is overall pretty bland, I mean what happened to playing with your nuts outside?

Those all looked like fairly real people to me. That's more of a step forward for advertising in my book.

I don't see anything wrong. They look like real people. The trouble maker, the skater, the teenage girl...

However, I dislike the "Real games for real gamers" comment.

I DO discuss the video, and I'm not the one saying sony's marketing is bad because they put 'washed up nerds' in an ad.
I didn't see a lot of washed up nerds, you don't mention sony's marketing scheme yourself and I'm pretty sure sony has done more research on their audience than you have, so how do you know that's not an accurate representation of sony's audience?'
But of course you're right, I should jog on. I have better things to do than to watch you fling poo around all night.

Methinks you're too used to seeing 'beautiful' fake people on TV. They looked like regular kids to me.

I'd go further and suggest this is the root of a lot of problems, no wonder so many kids are fucked up, if normal is now ugly, what's ugly? You only need to look at the magazines to see you can be too skinny and too fat seemingly at the same time, hell I take a look around where I live and I WISH half the people were as attractive as those in the ad. (umm, not that I'm saying I find young teenages attractive) IF only half the people around me were more attractive, it'd make the ad kids average.

I noticed a girl with glasses and braces, that's a bit 'Ugly Betty' but apart from that, average would be fair for any of them, for kids who are going to be on TV.

This is one more case of the armchair critic, the cheeto stained fatass yelling at the tv from his couch, telling the whole world he could do better than the number 3 basketball player of all time, when in reality he gets out of breath getting up from his seat. (This isn't an attack on the OP, just an attack on the horrendous level of criticism for anyone who isn't perfect nowadays).

I remember some comedian saying he wishes he was stunningly handsome, famous and talented, just so he could go get married to some hideous looking, huge whale of a woman, just to see how the paparazzi dealt with the mindblowing concept of a good looking guy choosing to be with a less attractive woman.

Same here, I hate anyone who makes it sound like you have to buy only our games or you're not a gamer.
