Depending on what they mean by a steep discount this could be cool. But judging from what I've seen of "discounts" on Sony and Microsoft consoles this could be laughable. Is 35% a steep discount? Not to us, but perhaps to them.
I would agree however, depending on what they price it at, there may be a good reason for this. Now hear me out here, a new PS3 game is what *checks JB Hi-Fi* lets take watch dogs special edition as an example:Jandau said:Yeah, because "You bought that game already? On our platform? Well, here, you can now buy it AGAIN, we'll knock off a few % for you." is suuuuuuch a GOOD deed...
Actually if they gave it out for free people would be getting the game cheap, as stated above theres a difference in price between PS3 and PS4 versions.LordOfInsanity said:If the price is more than $1, then Nintendo's got them beat on this for 'discounts' for upgrading software from the old system to new one.
I think the saddest part is that both Sony and Microsoft are abandoning their old console architecture -because- it makes BC so hard to offer. People fail to grasp that both corps using x86-based hardware for their consoles means their consoles from now on will be as backwards compatible as your average PCs.GoaThief said:Very well said, Shrekfan.
It's amazing how many people really just don't understand how different the Xbone and PS4 are to their predecessors. I'm sure if it could have been implemented it would have, imagine the leverage that would give over their rival console (no, the Wii U doesn't count as a niche product).
I'm just playing on the fact that when Nintendo said that to update the games you bought on the Wii e-shop/virtual console for the Wii U, it would cost people roughly a dollar or two, and a lot of people were complaining and throwing a shit storm about it.RicoADF said:Actually if they gave it out for free people would be getting the game cheap, as stated above theres a difference in price between PS3 and PS4 versions.
Ah I wasn't aware of that, didn't follow the Wii U that closely since the Wii has done nothing but gather dust here, only use it's had is playing Gamecube games and the Wii U can't do that afaik.LordOfInsanity said:I'm just playing on the fact that when Nintendo said that to update the games you bought on the Wii e-shop/virtual console for the Wii U, it would cost people roughly a dollar or two, and a lot of people were complaining and throwing a shit storm about it.
I'm waiting for the uproar from those same people about this if it even happens.
But yeah, I suspect the price will be roughly $10-20 for the 'upgrade cost'.
I agree with ya Brian, its very interesting how if it was announced by Microsoft it is met with hate, but if Sony announces the exact same thing people eat it up on this site. Heck even sites like IGN or Destructoid are not as bad as the comments on this site.Brian Tams said:Sometimes people make me sick.
Microsoft essentially said they were doing the same damn thing, and that was met with gamer rage. Sony, though? Praise.
Gamers have really made it a habit to piss me off lately.
How is that even possible? My understanding is that Nintendo links downloads to the console itself because they don't have an online account to link them to, so how is transferring them over to WiiU going to work? Do you have to send them both consoles in the mail? Do you plug the consoles into each other? I'm honestly curious.LordOfInsanity said:I'm just playing on the fact that when Nintendo said that to update the games you bought on the Wii e-shop/virtual console for the Wii U, it would cost people roughly a dollar or two, and a lot of people were complaining and throwing a shit storm about it.
No, no you can't. Unmodified Doom will not run on a modern system. You can allow it to run by using something like Doomsday or GZdoom, but don't pretend that running old games on PC doesn't require extra effort.SupahGamuh said:I can still enjoy my copy of Doom on the same PC that can run Battlefield 3![]()
Were they upgrading the game to an even more advanced WiiU console specific version or is this just a migration of a game you already own?LordOfInsanity said:I'm just playing on the fact that when Nintendo said that to update the games you bought on the Wii e-shop/virtual console for the Wii U, it would cost people roughly a dollar or two, and a lot of people were complaining and throwing a shit storm about it.RicoADF said:Actually if they gave it out for free people would be getting the game cheap, as stated above theres a difference in price between PS3 and PS4 versions.

They allow transfers from the Wii to the WiiU. They just don't allow the reverse or from a WiiU to a WiiU.major_chaos said:How is that even possible?
