Oh Sony, why bother? How does it benefit you to criticise your competition?

I swear these big companies are often worse than the fanboys =\
So we shouldn't criticize anything in hopes to improve and just leave everything they way they are?

(I get what you're saying, I'm just making it difficult for you).

Tom Goldman said:
"Well, nobody buys third-party games on the Wii, so I guess we'll try your complicated-ass system and see how that works." PlayStation 3 games must require at least 50% more engineers than Wii games.
Hmm, I find that interesting since the Wii probably has the most buggy, uncontrollable, and glitched out games on either the systems. Most games always have problems with the motion controller and hardly have any good gameplay mechanics with them. Not saying 360 or PS3 don't have those, though it's either less people for less try-ing-ing or more people to overcome some difficulty to make it better (for either 360 or PS3, after all it's not like the 360 is the same difficulty to program like with the Wii).

Just a random thought, don't even know if I made sense.

OT: WOW. Sony executive promoting Sony. Never seen that in the last, oh, 1,000,000,000 or so threads/news posts/videos/blogs/whateverthehell. People always seem to take executives too seriously.

Yes, because lack of advertising has no effect of sales of third party titles on the Wii. It all has to do with the success of first party titles...

Maybe if the architecture of the PS3 was easier to work with, then I might see the validity of this statement. Or not; it'd still be pretty ridiculous either way.

Methinks Sony has a case of sour grapes; why else are they producing so much whine? *ba-dum tish* [http://instantrimshot.com/]

As arrogant as Sony can get, I still can't shake the the feeling that Goldman up here, for whatever reason, has some kind of massive chip on his shoulder.

Wait, you just told an admin to shut the fuck up and made a comment with ONLY a picture? Yea, I'm pretty sure you're fucked.

O.T. Wait, so Sony said Microsoft has lots of 3rd party stuff but they have 1st party stuff, and then go on to say that all their 3rd party stuff is from Nintendo? Is it just me or is that a bit contradictory? Or am I just getting everything wrong?
The post was directed at Rob Dyer, obviously and I'd hope the mods would be able to read it correctly, even if some can't. It was not my intention to direct it to the poster and I'm honestly disapointed in humanity I had to explain this.

I severely enjoy the dick-waving competitions Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo always have. Even more then that, I love watching the rabid attack and defend dance the fan-boys do.

Personally, I think the mother-fucking Super Nintendo kicks the 360's, Wii's, and PS3's ass hands down.

Sony,.................shut up.

Just let your games do the talking.
That's probably why they feel the need to talk...
Oh ho ho, BURN. For some strange reason I was expecting this comment.

But I was talking in more of a positive sense. They've had a handfull of fantastic exclusives last year and the epic behemoth that is God of War 3 is just around the corner. Then again, multi-billion dollar companies are the most childish things in existence.

While true, I'd rather have those games that are cults instead of FPS,FPS,FPS,FPS,FPS. That's all I see in those two console. Granted they have others, but that's all I see.

Just because I see this doesn't mean it doesn't have others genres. Only that a vast majority are FPS.

You need to look further these days. That's the case with all platforms, including the Wii. You do that, otherwise you'd just see shallow crap in minigame form on it. Try looking for some greatness on the other consoles with the same dedication you do with the Wii and you'll be able to find some absolute greatness there, too. That's a promise.

You see, that's the problem: They are third party titles on the Wii and, regardless of their quality, they sell like shit. Especially considering how many Wiis are out there. This is why 3rd party developers don't like producing for Nintendo consoles any more.
The third-party Wii games that most gamers talk about (No More Heroes, MadWorld, Muramasa) all sold well for the kinds of games that they are: Niche games intended for a limited audience. None of them are in the same league as Mass Effect, Modern Warfare 2, or other games of that ilk, so its unfair to say they sold like shit. And most third-party developers don't care about how much a game sells as much as the press does, all they care about is whether or not that game turned out to be profitable. Once it's in the black by a healthy amount, exact numbers no longer concern them outside of talks with investors.

That's the truth.
I've found more great games on my Primary system(The Wii) than my secondary system(Xbox 360).

Sony was so determined to "brand" their console as sophisticated and now they are whining like babies over petty bullshit. It only adds insult to injury that it's the flippin' VP of SCEA who happens to be saying all of this stuff.

Doesn't this guy know anything about public image? The president better smack some sense into him.

Only first party games sell on the Wii? That's because most third party games are shit with which developers tried making a quick buck. Nintendo does good, quality games. Do you think that the average Wii user knows who makes the games they buy? No, they have a moderate idea of what's good based on what other people, like their friends or perhaps reviewers say.

Obviously if third party developers don't take the time to create good games, they won't sell as well as Nintendo. And honestly, when did the last bad Mario game came out? Sure, he's a dead horse being beaten, but the games are fun!

I like it when the third-party developers who complain about their games not selling are the very same third-party developers who refuse to actually put genuine effort into said games. (Hey, guys, rather than a proper installment in our popular series we'll give you a spin-off with quirky motion controls!)

...Although I like it much less when actual awesome games sell badly. But that's often due to crappy promotion and/or because they're fairly unknown developers with a brand-new IP that doesn't immediately appeal to the masses.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If they are so convinced third party games won't sell on the Wii, prove it and give us something that isn't a rail shooter/niche title. Stick a AAA blockbuster mainstream title comparable to AC II with high production values on the system. If it doesn't sell, no one can say otherwise.

Lets be honest here. This whole self fulfilling prophecy bullshit that these third party companies are pulling means they can release crap or niche and if it sells, then cool. If it doesn't, they can act like nothing sells except a Mario game on the Wii.

The Wii is basically a guinea pig. 3rd party companies treat it like an experimentation ground for niche titles.

Would they have had the balls to put Deadly Creatures on the PS360? The answer is no.

You seem to interpret this as "promoting" when actually it's more "liking the sound of their own voice". Believe me they are two different things. Ever since this generation has started Sony's attitude has been to criticize the competition, call everything they do "last-gen" and "gimmicky", then go and copy it a few months later (rumble, motion control, etc. etc. etc.). Also, with this statement as well as others, Sony feels they need to make announcements about everything awesome they did back in the day and how their new stuff is going awesome and being in third place is no big deal. Well if it wasn't such a big deal why do they keep talking about it.. Seriously they sound like that one guy everyone knows from high school who was such a great football player but didn't make it in the NFL now he just sits on his couch and criticizes everything he sees on Monday Night Football like a bitter, washed-up has-been.

So basically my point is when Sony actually gets off of the couch and starts doing things instead of just talking out their ass all day, maybe the talk will be worth listening to.

I like how you guys act as if this is the 1st time there's been corporate mudslinging.

Remember "Genesis does what Nintendon't"?

Jeez don't get so emotional over your games.

Difference. I never had my intelligence/maturity level/masculinity directly insulted by Nintendo fans for picking the Genesis in the 16-bit era. Once Sony came along things took a turn.

"Hey guys" I have this new marketing strategy I want to try out. I'm gonna go out and say a lot of douchy things on the Intratubes to get us some attention! Simple and effective, what can go wrong?"
