Yes, because lack of advertising has no effect of sales of third party titles on the Wii. It all has to do with the success of first party titles...

Maybe if the architecture of the PS3 was easier to work with, then I might see the validity of this statement. Or not; it'd still be pretty ridiculous either way.

Methinks Sony has a case of sour grapes; why else are they producing so much whine? *ba-dum tish* [http://instantrimshot.com/]
OMFG..that link "*ba-dum tish*" to the instant rimshot is the funniest, kewlest thing ever. love it.
Don't forget about the drama button!

Sony is instigating a console war! [http://www.dramabutton.com/]
LMFAO!!

Sony's saying stuff now because they have a leg to stand on. There hasn't been very much from Sony in terms of console bashing until now. It's always been MS' Aaron Greenberg, and Big N's Iwata. The real competition for the Wii in terms of developers is the iPhone though.

It was more "Oh look how hot the Wii is selling... let half ass a horrible game there! money baby! money!" 6 months later "oh crap we lost out shirts... It's all Nintendo's fault that our horrible game didn't sell! waah waah waah!"

And this coming from a guy who doesn't own a Wii

rage building! but anyway, Sony apparently have gotten surgery to put there heads up there asses so far they can see there own teeth, as about 60 or 70% of games for the PS3 are first party.

Oh sony when will you learn nintendo and their ridiculous piles of money dont care what you think, and to that extent neither does ms and their extensive piles of money.

These flame wars sony keep trying to start are futile really, though im just waiting for one of the developers for 360 or wii to just says "Dude...." that'll stop em for sure.

Trolling IRL?

Obviously Sony is getting a little bored with the console wars and have decided to launch an attack of a different kind.

I like how you guys act as if this is the 1st time there's been corporate mudslinging.

Remember "Genesis does what Nintendon't"?

Jeez don't get so emotional over your games.
Difference. I never had my intelligence directly insulted by Nintendo fans for picking the Genesis in the 16-bit era. Once Sony came along things took a turn.
So it's Sony's fault there's fanboys around?

I thought it was the internet myself. The ability to anonymously say whatever you want to strangers with no repurcussions. Oh I loathe the internet sometimes...
Hate to double post but anyone whos seen jay and silent bob strike back knows there will be repurcussions to what you say on the internet.

Serious ones.

At first I wanted to say something about all these companies being childish, but I didn't hear any stories about Microsoft of Nintendo lately, so I think I may have to just put Sony on the Naughty Step.

Thats a bad Sony, stop being such a cretin.

*I will of course be willing to put the other corps on the naughty step if someone could give me information on their childish antics of late (I don't want 2 year old links people...)

Nonsense. High production value doesn't mean that the game has to look like Killzone 2. Just because the Wii has weaker hardware, it doesn't mean that games can't be expensive to produce on it.

Nintendo produced games are successful due to a combination of the fanbase and high production values. Pretty much all of Nintendo's big games have been AAA titles, can you deny that?

And FYI devs don't toss in shovelware and other crap because they can't compete. They do it because they can make a game that cost next to nothing, took very little creative effort to make, with a high return. They did it for the PS2, they did it for the PS1, and so on.

And also, there have been plenty of games that use the control system well. If there weren't, there wouldn't be any good games (critically) on the Wii. And we know there are.

Efforts like Monster Hunter 3, Red Steel 2 and Xenoblade (look it up if need be)? More of those.

Is this the kind of level Sony's stooped to now? Cheap shots.
Dude, since when has Sony not tried taking cheap shots at Microsoft or Nintendo? :) Every single one of their press releases revolves around cheap shots with nothing to back up their claims, its really quite hilarious :p

Sony: Wii Sends Third-Party Developers to PS3

A console war bash-fest just isn't complete until each of the big three is involved.

Following up on Sony's bash of Microsoft yesterday [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98398-Sony-Bashes-Microsofts-Check-Writing-Policy-Again], SCEA Senior Vice President of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer evidently also had a few words to say about Nintendo's current offerings. Dyer believes that the domination of first-party videogame sales on the Wii turns third-parties off to the system and has brought them over to Sony's PlayStation 3 instead.

"What publishers have said is they're not going to spend the resources on Wii," he asserts. "In the past, it was 'Look how hot the Wii is,' or 'Look how hot the DS is,' and 'We should put resources there.' They did that and realized, 'You know what, third-party product just doesn't sell on that platform."

This realization is only a boon to the PlayStation 3, according to Dyer. "So now they're taking those resources, coming back to us and saying, 'Sony we're going to be able to provide you with that exclusive content,' or 'We're going to put more engineers on it and figure out to maximize the Blu-ray and get more out of PS3.' That's what we're seeing now." I like how Dyer is basically saying that third-parties tell Sony: "Well, nobody buys third-party games on the Wii, so I guess we'll try your complicated-ass system and see how that works." PlayStation 3 games must require at least 50% more engineers than Wii games.

In Dyer's opinion, "Unless [third-party developers have] a particular franchise that's worked well on the Wii, you don't see a lot of innovative new IP coming out on that platform." He's right, thought I'm not sure Nintendo can do anything to fix the problem. People buy Nintendo games because they are the easy casual buy when walking into a store, and they are also fun for the hardcore. When any gamer looks at a wall of Wii games, finding something good is like searching for a needle in a mountain of poop. Nobody can stop publishers from cloning mini-game collections, or from naming and packaging them in a way that makes them look fun, when in reality they are the blights of the current videogame industry. The Wii has a reputation for crap, so even if a good game comes out on the system, it's associated with the same crap as everything else.

very true sir!

also note: "like searching for a needle in a mountain of poop" was very nicely added!

now the impossible thing would be to see that those companies would shake hands, and cooperate between each other...

Oh my, apparently guys at Sony want to incite as many flamewars as they possibly can.

Would they kindly make their CEOs shut up and rather bring out more Kevin Butler?

Oh Sony, why bother? How does it benefit you to criticise your competition?

I swear these big companies are often worse than the fanboys =\
I like to think of it as harmless fun banter.

Like when jocks touch each others balls then cheer about their heterosexuality.

It doesn't quite make sense to me, but they appear to be having fun.

PS. I'm curious if I'm the only one who actually went through the time to find out that there are 30 worthwhile tiles on the Wii (closer to 35 now)?

People act like it has 1 or 2 games. You could quite literally name at least that many titles worth owning. Not many more if any but at least that many.

I know because I've gameflied nearly that many titles :p.

MadWorld
House of the Dead: Overkill
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
A Boy and His Blob
No More Heroes
No More Heroes 2: Desparate Struggle
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars
Rune Factory: Frontier
Harvest Moon: Animal Parade
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Not terrible but not fantastic)
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Super Paper Mario
LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues (I admit you can play it on other consoles and get trophies)
Mario Super Sluggers
Animal Crossing: City Folk
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Same as Indiana)
Mario Power Tennis
Punch-Out!!
Super Mario Galaxy
Dead Space Extraction
Little King's Story
Okami
MySims Kingdom
deBlob
Pikmin
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
Dokapon Kingdom
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Lego Indiana Jones (Same as other Lego's)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Wii Fit Plus (I realize not really a game)
Wii Sports Resort (or even the regular but I particularly enjoy resort)
Raving Rabbids 1-3
Boom Blox

Upcoming:
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Disney Epic Mickey
Monster Hunter Tri

I am missing a few and omitted games that I know most people don't enjoy that I liked. But yeah, admittedly some of these can be had with trophies on other consoles but still. It doesn't just have 2 titles :p.

Sony was doing so well until it started talking again too.
What after more than one article points out that developers are unhappy with Wii sales and more recently are beginning to abandon the platform? Not that any of those revelations surprised me since I figured out a long time ago that Nintendo is the only company really making much of anything when it comes to money on the system.
