Batman is awesome because he doesn't use brute strength to solve his problems. Oh sure, eventually he goes in and kicks some ass, but not before surveying the situation and choosing the best tactical option.
He constantly goes up agains people and creatures that are 100 times as powerful as him, and comes out on top.
It's just cooler than, say, Superman, because Superman has that whole "impervious to injury" trump card. Superman never has any awesome fights because he's either impervious and obviously going to win, or he's infected by Cryptonium and can't even move. Boring.

Most of what was said (the positive non joking comments) is true. Regardless of him being a billionaire, he's human which means he deals with problems like every other human being and can be killed like any other human being. He may seem like a character none of us can relate to but I think the reason why people are attracted to him more than other super heroes like Superman and Iron Man is he uses his brain to solve most problems (deductive reasoning) and in Tony's case, Bruce has the funds to make a super suit but prefers trained fighting styles (both things we as regular humans can do). Don't get me wrong Superman and Iron Man are both cool heroes (and I don't think people give them enough credit) but Batman is different, he walks that line between hero and villain (in some sense) in order to do good. Batman only has most of his gadgets because he has to have non-lethal ways to take opponents down. Also as the technology of bad guys improve, Batman has to be one step ahead. You're entitled to your opinion omega 616 however, if you really want to know why many of us love The Batman then try to check out the comics and animated movies (they are based on the comics most of the time).
What makes Batman so epic is because he's considered a superhero without having any superpowers aaaaaaand he's a fucking nutcase! He's incredibly intelligent, has his own fiscal empire, he's an expert at martial arts, he possibly has the most advanced technology in his 'universe', and back in the old comics, he actually killed people....WITH A GUN! >
