Soooo... The Engineer Update (For TF2)

Once people stop playing as the engineer constantly, it should be fun.

It's annoying when both teams are almost all engineer, save for maybe a spy or demoman.

I am not playing Team Fortress 2 for a while now. The Soldier vs. Demo update pissed me off to no end, and there is no way I'm going to experience it again.

Got all the items, no Gold Wrenches. ( daw) And the Achievements are fairly easy. Perhaps because you're supposed to help other Engies for those, so during this week it's easy to get.

What's even more annoying is when your team are all engi and the other team is nice and balanced.

Haha, nobody was playing as a scout in the last few servers I was in.

Edit: @Reg: Usually once I realize that, I just leave. It's no fun getting steamrolled because everyone is camping at their buildings.

I just played my first game of TF2 and it's okay but I don't get what the fuss is about.

Then again I did just play with a full team and all but 2 were engineers, I was a medic (while I learn the maps I might aswell help somebody!) and a spy, I am also not playing in a very gamer position so maybe that ruin the fun slightly.

Spoiler: This is how I am sat at the moment

some shelf the width of my keyboard on my lap, the keyboard on the shelf at arms length and the mouse below it, while my monitor is 45 degrees to my left.

Anyway, all I know is there was an update for the engineers so I guess there constantly improving the game, which is only a good thing, right?

Now's really not the best time to get a good feel of the game, because everyone is engineer and trying to unlock new items, which really throws of the balance.

You wanna know what I call this update at the moment? Sapfest 2010.

Great fucking times. Beat my record for spy on my first try.

Played for two hours from the moment the update went live and got two milestones, which is enough for the moment. Had a blast taunt killing bots for a good 10 minutes afterwards.

Quality over quantity.

Just because they change and add loads of stuff doesn't mean it's good.

I agree on principle, but I don't think that's really applicable here. All of Valve's stuff has been pretty great.

OT:

As for the update however, I'm not sure I could be much more excited over the whole thing. I've got 3 of the 4 new weapons with only the Wrangler left to go. Engineer is far and away my most played class so I'm ecstatic over the whole thing.

I'm even enjoying the chaos of 16 vs 16 engineers in dustbowl. It's so ridiculous. I wouldn't enjoy it forever but it's a fun diversion for a few days.

Personally I like the update. So many people who usually despise the engineer are now after the achievements giving me easy saps and backstabs. Might finaly bother to do the 1000 of each earlier montioned.

The thing I don't like is the afterimages of the sentries and teleporters.

Considering I never play Arena I'm still pissed.
Seriously, if an item is OP in one mode, why not change it for that mode only?

You mean after enough people complain because they refuse to learn new tactics and items get taken down a notch as a result?

Or do you mean after a much larger than the in house testing group get their hands on the items and valve gets even more data?

What? You can't tell me the mini sentry isn't underpowered and rendered useless by the fact you can move sentries anyway, and level one sentries you grab and drop take the same amount of time to deploy and are almost twice as powerful. All of that is a completely new tactic way of playing battle engie, still needs either side nerfing/buffing. So it's hardly because people can't be bothered to learn new tactics.

Thing need tweaking, not everything is perfect just because it's released by Valve. People complain for this reason.

Don't misunderstand me. Sure stuff pretty well always needs tweaking but I actually really like the gunslinger. I thought the sentry was awful at first too but I figured it out eventually. You just have to use it a little differently. That said, I wouldn't complain if it got a little buff.

Of course you have to use it differently to regular sentries.

It was built for the battle engie, and it would be perfect(ish) had they not introduced moveable buildings at the same time.
You can do everything (except +25hp) the gunslinger does but with twice the firepower and more building health with 30 more metal and about 6 more seconds.

Also you get the option to upgrade if you don't use the GS, at the moment, it seriously isn't worth the trade.

I decided out of the blue after waking up way too early this morning to play TF2 again after not playing it or any other online shooters for over a year, only to discover that not only were all the skills I had acquired from playing multiplayer shooters frequently since Doom had come out were gone and that deciding as a heavy player to start playing again after a long hiatus right when the engineer update comes out was a stupid idea.
