I was looking around a few of the music stores around my local district and I noticed that almost every month a new musical genre appears with its own name, melodic progression and other musical thingies that only nitpickers care about.
Amongst the many I found one stood out at the time: Neue Deutsche Härte, or New German Hard.
My first thought was something involving the words "Porn" and "gross".
Has anyone else found obscure music genres that have stupid names like this or just have questionable traits?

Neue Deutsche Härte bands include Rammstein and Megaherz.

All of them. Genres irritate me. The most popular band on earth still falls under Alternative, it makes no damn sense. To be more accommodating, a local band described themselves as Tractor Jazz. That's a funny name for a genre right there.

Powerviolence.
Crossover Thrashcore.

Fuck, I'm into metal, I could be here all day with the stupid names.

Doom Metal
Traditional Doom Metal
Epic Doom Metal
Black Doom Metal
Death Doom Metal
Gothic Doom Metal
Stoner Doom Metal
Funeral Doom Metal
Drone Doom Metal

And I love doom metal :p

True Scottish Pirate Metal (Check out Alestorm) is the best genre name ever.

Alternative.

I mean, to be blunt, EVERYTHING (Except for maybe classical or blues) could go under that category.

So, when someone says I like Alternative music, I call bullshit.

I want to listen to some of that. Sounds awesome, even if its not I would still listen to it just so that I could say "I listen to Pirate Hip-Hop"

But most genres are good however some have just gone way too far. I mean Metal has more than enough sub-genres, some I cant distinguish the difference between.

Weirdest genre I have ever come across is "Zombie Porno Grind". Really screwed up stuff. Bands such as Rompaprop play in this style (and I use the term style very loosely).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvah5c9joUI&feature=related - One of their songs called "Donkey Punch"

How bout...
Industrial Mathcore (Protest the Hero)
Avant Garde Metal (bands like Unexpect or even Meshuggah)

There are a lot more, but not one of them is memorable enough for me to have remembered them so that I could post 'em here.

Theres math rock. I don't particularly like it but kudos to the people who play it. It has some weird rhythms.

To me, there are only two genres; "Stuff I like" and "Stuff I don't like". All the crossover genres just don't make sense to me.
