What I find amusing is the complete lack of apathy from parents about buying games for their children. From my personal observations at my local EB Games, maybe 5% of parents actually stop buying the game once they find out that their 8 years old kid wants an MA15+ game.

For fucks sake Australia! England threw you lot out because you couldn't stop breaking laws. What makes you think you have any business trying to write your own?

South Australia was never a penal colony.

The way my state government acts at times it may have served a period as a penile colony though.
Except its capital wss designed by a convict.
Whoever told you that needs to be punched in the face... punch yourself in the face while you're at it for believing such a load of shit.
The thing is, it's not completely unbelievable. Convicts have designed things before.

I think this is a big waste of time for everyone directly involved.

I am now even more embarassed to be an Australian.

Can I get my Brittish Passport yet? I don't want to live in this Country anymore.

And really who is He to tell me what Is appropriate for me and my siblings?

A bad parent tries to change the world for their Child
A good Parent tries to prepare their Child for the world.

Maybe someone should remind the Australian Branch of the Catholic Church that.

Nice, but South Australia - and the Northern Territories which are largely empty anyway - never accepted convicts directly from England. They weren't penal colonies, just regular colonies. :)

SA has a lingering sense of upstanding conservative citizenry (relatively speaking.) Adelaide is informally the city of churches. Even less formally it's where all the best weed comes from. :D

last time i checked MA15+ was a sale restricted by parental consent. technically they have to be sold with the parent there. this is making it that it has to be purchased by the parent or guardian.
last time i checked MA15+ meant 15 years or older...

I have never worked in retail although I spend a good amount of time in game stores. From what I've observed, you've summed it up brilliantly.

No, Tasmania is our arsehole. I thought we all agreed on this?

So he is planning to fix the currently borked system by taking games that have been rated as suitable for anyone over the age of 15, and making it illegal for anyone under 18 to buy them? Yea, he's stupid.

Tasmania is, well, our Map of Tassie. Isn't that obvious?

Anyway, perhaps if John Bunting had played some violent video games he would have had a cathartic outlet for his depraved bloodlust and South Australia and Adelaide in particular wouldn't have the reputation they now have.

It's times like this that makes me wish any person who wants any position in a government needs to undergo "Common sense slap" therapy.

It's not much better here in the US, but at least we had the occupy thing before the media started reporting on it and then people who had no idea what it was really about started to go and the who goal of the movement changed from "Awareness of political corruption from private coperations" to 99% and such.

Ehn, this is actually not a terrible idea. I mean, it's *stupid*, of course, and there has got to be a better way, but Australia has let a lot of R18+ worthy games slip by with MA15+

I'd prefer, you know, just moving the more overtly adult MA games into the higher rating level, but if this is what it takes...

Oh for F***'S SAAAAAKEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I refuse to believe that my own country contains such demented idiots. Overseas, fine, but oh God not in Australia! I used to think we were the sort of progressive ones!

Look, long story short we just have to prevent this sort of legislation until all the old fossils die off or get dementia. I just hope we can stay strong.

EDIT: lol, look at the overreaction I'm having. It's only the sale after all, thankfully, and that won't mean s***. ^^

So... legally, what would happen to a store if they sold a 15+ game to someone who was 15?
