If you've seen the last episode of south park you might've laughed, or maybe felt a little sad like me. I wonder if Matt and Trey are reflecting on the series in this episode, about how everything turns to shit.

me about 5 minutes earlier edited a little, comment on the episode at the site-"Oh no is this a reflection on the series? first jersey conquering America shit, then some NASCAR shit, eventually to crack baby basketball? Its sad Im not sure if that's true but it seems clear to me. How Sharon and Randy argued about how they didn't know who was getting older/changing, and how they were talking about how its the same story but slightly different getting more and more ridiculous (crack-baby basketball?), like how Sharon said Randy kept doing crazy shit like "one week you wanna be a blah blah next you wanna be a famous chef" , maybe Matt and trey are realizing something, and how they said "i can't fake it anymore", like people lying to themselves about thinking there favorite show (south park) is still really good while really you're not sure how much longer you can put up with the shit. Then them leaving each other, like when people stopped watching Simpsons cause it started to suck, maybe in reality south park is too and Matt and trey see that, its sad and that's why it has sad music and sad changes making people who loved each other suddenly hating each other, cause it truly is sad. This episode was very good but that's the meaning i pulled from it. Or maybe i'm just becoming a sad cynic like Stan :'("

If you haven't seen the episode: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s15e07-youre-getting-old

I think everything is turning to shit like Simpsons south park music, for a few moments until i tricked myself otherwise i thought mr. poppers looked like shit, then i thought "oh i love jim carry movies".

please post your thoughts

The crack baby basketball is actually a pretty good analogy at the NCAA and how it profits off of its students.

I think the problem is you, and I don't mean that in an offensive way. I just don't think you're watching the show with the proper mindset is all.

Okay, here's another point...I don't think Jim Carrey has ever made a good movie...EVER. And before anyone starts posting about Eternal Sunshine of the Pothead's High that movie was decent DESPITE Carrey's performance.

Think of him as the Will Ferrel of the late 90's, early 00's.

I thought that it was a little tasteless, but I thought that it was still legitimate commentary, as described by Salad is Murder.

I guess he's not to everyone's taste then...

I liked him in "Number 23" he was actually serious there :p

OT: I don't think that's what SP was trying to say, it has always been about what is currently current in pop culture and making fun of the obviously stupid stuff, in this episode they made fun of the fact that every generation acts the same about "their" music compared to their parents and also how being a complete cynic is no fun for anyone

Thanks for the opinions, the reason i liked Jim Carreys humor is because its so wacky, but maybe like in the episode i just grew out of it. Maybe im pulling to much out of a plot device, because south park has always been clear on whats its saying, like the NASCAR episode was about how it's a common misconception that NASCAR drivers are stupid, and people who watch it are too.

South Park is politically incorrect satire; but it lacks the zip of Mel Brooks.
I could rarely ever get into South Park's style; it was always too annoying.

South Park is amazing in my eyes. Series 15 hasn't been a 'great' series but i'm sure it will pick up. Matt and Trey are great at what they do.

Eh I really like Jim Carrey, and Will Ferrel.

OT: I did wonder this as I was watching the episode. There is only one South Park episode that I did not enjoy, and that was "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs". I thought the last series especially was awesome, notably "200" and "201" (despite the fact is was pretty much recycled material) and the Coon saga.

Bare in mind that this is a two part episode - I think they know what they're doing. South Park is still awesome and it's just a commentary cynics.

The majority of their episodes tend to touch on things in popular culture and rip into them (albeit in a joking manor) - isn't there a sense of irony in there, then, that they do an episode about cynicism?

I think it needs to go off air for a few years. Then return in a blaze of glory!

What? That sentence makes no sense.

On-topic: I still like it. Some are better than others but I still very much enjoy it.

See the episode when the kids run their own TV studio for evidence that the creators are getting tired of having to come up new shit every damn week.

I've always been ambivalent about South Park. I suppose I find the humor a bit vulgar for my tastes. I respect the show for being popular, as well as for running for a very long time.

Now this is a thought I've had in the past too (Though I supress more often these days after what happened to Family guy)

As a show goes on longer than 3 seasons, writers typically run out of material (Or in the Simpsons case, one of their best writers leaves and is never really replaced and the show suffers for it). It can quickly become difficult trying to find new situations for characters on a show to keep doing without wheezing out more of the same junk you've already done (Or someone else has already done, the well known "Simpsons did it" syndrome)

I like to think a series that does really well for a long time should be allowed, when necessary, to take a year or so off, get refreshed, and come back renewed and possibly stuffed with new ideas for their show. Just like when you are trying to figure out a difficult problem after a long chain of them and are stumped, but you take a break, and when you come back to it, Huzzah! you solved it in seconds.

As an example, the band Rammstein had gone strong for around 13 years, then split for a break from each other, only to return with another great album (I am a fan obviously) Personally, I stopped watching Southpark after the 300 lesbos episode, I couldn't even sit through that bilge water. I've caught bits and pieces of newer episodes since and while i still like the way Trey and his sidekick get their message across, I just can't get back into it.

On a sidenote, Being a Canadian citizen, the video link just showed me an apology given by Terrence and Phillip

lol what i meant to type was "I think everything is turning to shit like Simpsons, south park, and music"sorry for grammar...
I saw the trailer when I saw Xmen first class, and i was like "wtf this movie looks like shit", then my friend who was with me whispered "sweet a new Jim Carrey movie they haven't had one in years" and I thought "oh wait I love Jim Carrey movies" and I got myself all exited to see it.
but I liked the episode anyway because the music nowadays sounds like shit, and those guys talking about britches Armageddon, it was funny but the ending had me in a mind set of unhappiness and breaking apart, due to Stan's parents, and Stan and his friends breaking apart.

South Park is to teen/young adults what transformers, blues clues, {Insert every other children's show} are to kids, something you enjoyed, then years later felt utterly embarrassed that you had enjoyed, and that only a select creepy few find fulfilling even in those later years.

I didn't get that when I saw the ep, but I get what you mean. If it's true, then they should stop making it and move on to another project, otherwise it will start to get shit and people will lose respect for them and the show. They should quit before its too late, if that's true, otherwise, keep them coming, cause up to now, in my opinion, its as good as it has always been (apart from seasons 4 to 8 which were by far some of the best eps).
