Was gonna go with the Clone Starfighter (the ARC-170), but someone beat me to it. (hey, is that thing really called a Vulture? or am I the only one who remembers it as such?)
This is a vulture, they fight them in one scene so you proberly got confused.

For PRETTIEST ship, I'd say the SSV Normandy SR2 really has the spotlight.

Yep, if I had to choose a ship for joyriding in space, it would be this one.
If I wanted to wage war I would probably go for something much bigger and much more powerful such as the Imperial Super stardestroyer

Battlestar Galactica.

Her weapons and systems may be a bit outdated and primitive by sci-fi standards, but she has armour that can withstand a direct freaking nuclear hit, and those "primitive" systems are hardened against cyber attack.
I prefer the Pegasus. Much more of a tank-like ship.

OT: My favourite is one of

I see a lot of good things in this thread. Lots of Homeworld and Star Wars.

The TIE Interceptor.

5 pages and no love for Freespace (1 or 2) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZb3QTKHAAQ]?

I'd put many of the ships from it on the list here, but among my favorites are:

The GTD Bastion

And who can forget the Colossus and the Sathanas?

What Flying is required, no air in space so no need for aerodynamics. And If it is in space or in orbit, weightless means It wont have to worr about holding up under the strains of gravity.

Spikes Swordfish cowboy bebop all the way.

Mostly this. The bebop itself is pretty cool with the rotating drum.
Designed for the first maned mission to Jupiter it is very similar to the space ship from 2001: a space odyssey in the fact that is is super realistic.

But on the other hand: The Andromeda Ascendant, Glorious Heritage-class heavy cruiser High Guard ship from the Old Commonwealth. There's few sentences as badass as this one.
Also, the ship's AI is Lexa Doig.

Too bad that show was pretty hit-and-miss, because Lexa was pretty awesome on it (also; fuck replacing her with that irritating chick for almost an entire season). >.>

Good 4X games...
I loved that Game, this still deserves a worthy sequel (not the Nexus incident), but with the same depth as with this game.

The Incom T-65 X-wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star. An almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive shielding make it the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron.

Thank you, general rieekan.
Rogue Squadron quotes for the win. However, If I have to choose an Alliance/New Republic/Galactic Federation of Free Alliances starfighter, they don't come much better than these buggers.

Of course, the Empire has better looking fighters all around. Sexy devils that they are.

Yeah, I thought they were all pretty good but someone made a few awful decisions, especially to release Wolfe who was the heart of the whole production and then change all of his plans for the whole thing.
Still, the series had its charm.

I pretty much agree. I had more than a few problems with it even before Wolfe left, but on the whole it was worth watching. It's just a shame that it could have been much more (oh, and that scene would have been much better without Doyle. Just saying.)
