Remember about three months ago, when people were all like "KILL LA KILL SAVED ANIME THANK YOU BASED TRIGGER", and it was like a joke because Trigger's staff are the guys who made Gurren Laggan, and they have absolutely no restraint, and it was basically getting into the spirit of things? Well, Space Dandy is kinda like that, except people are fucking serious. For that reason alone, I kinda want Space Dandy to be terrible and bomb apallingly.

Yeah, so instead I'll be watching Pupa Saki: Zenkokuhen Nisekoi Super Sonico The Animation? Sakura Trick??? Space Dandy it is, then.

I think it looks like a lot of fun. It's Shinichiro Watanabe's new anime (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), so of course I'm gonna check it out, and it's something he created, so I'm more enthused for this than I was with Kids on the Slope (which I never cared for.) It's also cool how it's gonna air here the same time it airs in Japan, and dubbed, too. I'd like to see more of that in the future.

EDIT: Just watched it (Dubbed), and loved every second of it.

Same here. Anime must have been doing well since Toonami's revival if they have an early broadcast deal. I'll definitely be checking it out even though those over the top series don't usually fit me.

I'm a big downer on current anime, but Space Dandy looks to be an exception. Just a fun, retro space adventure comedy, with some old school character designs.

It is by Shinichiro Watanabe though, so there is a slight risk of it coming across a bit too cool for school.

I caught glimpse of the ten minute preview of the first episode and it's alright to say the least... I'm not fully sold to it but I will watch the rest of that episode when it premier properly in January.

EDIT-Ok I have just finish watching the first episode which it was entertaining I guess (I can't denine they have one hell of an adventure!). I wonder how the next episode will start in correspond to how the first episode had ended.

Which is funny considering how said creators are known for the grounded, more serious classics that were Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, although the latter is of course a little less serious.

And then this...insanity comes along. I don't know. On one hand, at least the music is still by Yoko Kanno. On the other hand, it truly looks insane. I think I'll stick to watching Monster and Planetes for now, maybe check out the first episode. It looks fun though, but I'm often not one for those kinds of fun.

Thanks for the link, I'd seen the first half of the first episode elsewhere and that really just painted the show as being about an alien hunter who's life goal is to visit every space Hooters in existence. I'm glad that there will probably be a bit more to it than that.

I just hope the pacing is closer to Cowboy Bebop than Champloo. Though even without knowing it does look like a whole lot of fun, and that weird kind of retro sci-fi where no one thing looks alike is rare to see nowadays.
