So yeah, apparently Space Jam 2 is a thing that's gonna actually happen. [http://www.deadline.com/2014/02/lebron-james-space-jam-sequel-dick-ebersol/] Thoughts?

EDIT: I've been informed that it's actually a thing that's not gonna happen. Too bad.

I heard that one of the original concepts for Space Jam was a plot that starred Jackie Chan. I would've liked to have seen that. Jackie Chan and Looney Tunes seem like a natural crossover.

I can't believe that it's really happening. I remember the original fondly, although I'll admit that Mr. Jordan is not the best Actor (He wasn't bad, just not that good)...

Well, I'm hoping this movie is good, and that it's filled with good music like the original.

I...I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, i still love the original movie from my childhood, even if it's super cheese. On the other hand, it's with another basketball player and i doubt it could top the original, and they'll probably dubstep the hell out of the original song.

If this movie can't top the amazing soundtrack that made the first movie so legendary it will be all for naught.

NO SPACE JAM IS FOR US 90'S KIDS YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!

It was a seriously cool film though, I mean Michael Jordan and Loony Tunes? Is there anything better besides ice cream for a six year old? The sound track was fucking awesome too. No point doing a second one if they can't beat the music.

Why would you? More importantly, who asked for this?

We all know its never going to top the soundtrack of the original and that was the only reason that movie still barely exists in the public consciousness. I'm expecting a tremendous flop.

If there's a joke about Starbucks or Apple in it I'm gonna puke my guts out at the movie theater.

I just saw this on Facebook a few moments ago.

As a new update in the two hours since this thread was made... Lebron James is supposed to star in it.

Thoughts, anyone?

I KNEW there was going to be a Space Jam 2, mentioned it in the Fantastic Four casting thread

I'm reserving judgement until I know more about it but damn this is spooky

EDIT: False. You can either sigh in disappointment or in relief now. Well it was fun while it lasted. LeBron sources refute Deadline report, there's no Space Jam 2 or Warner Bros. project in works

Let's all be frank, it was a quirky piece of nostalgia, but another commercialized venture like that? You're flying too close to the sun.

Jesus christ no. The thing that made Space Jam so perfect was the 90s soundtrack. I do not want to have to hear dubstep in my Looney Tunes. You know it's going to happen.

So apparently it's not happening after all. Or, at least, its development is being denied and refuted.

I'd be interested to see it if it wound up being a thing, but it looks like, for now, the reports were not accurate.

If it can result in such works of pure brilliance as this then so be it!
Although I somehow doubt it will. :(

I sure hope so. Even as a kid I knew deep down that the movie was awful, and that Jordan couldn't act his way out of a paper bag with a hole in the bottom.

WB has been trying and mostly failing to regain cultural significance and "street cred" for Looney Tunes ever since the over-saturation of shameless merchandising in the 90s. Which Space Jam represents the pinnacle of. It's worked a bit on TV, in feature films not so much. (Show of hands, who remembers or even watched "Back in Action"?)

Still, I'm glad the original exists. If only so we could eventually get the wonderfully funny re-imagining of Lola in "The Looney Tunes Show", far and away the best part of that program. And the great soundtrack.

Same here since that song pretty much became a meme (the sequel better have an awesome theme).

Anyway, I pretty much view this as an attempt to revive the Looney Toons again (granted I don't know if those updated shows are any good or not).

..So.

Rapture is coming.

Valve time is ending.

This is all in all horrible news. I hope Jackie Chan's in it though (not HL3. We all know that's never coming) because yah.
