I really like the fluff behind the Dark Angels. The Crimson Fists are pretty rockin' too.

Meh, got my 3+ armor save, so ill risk it and say Black Legion FTW.

Though among the loyalists, i prefeer the Blood Angels. And the Ultrasmurfs need to be put down.

As for my favorite I'm gonna have to go with the Space Wolves: Vikings combined with Werewolves and spaceships? Yes please. Can't say I'm a fan of the color scheme though.
I second this, you can't beat the Ale swilling Werewolf Space Vikings.

Another reason they're my favourite is they seem to have more character than the other chapters, there's something about them getting drunk and loving a good punch-up that makes them seem more human and down-to-Earth than some of the other, more regimented and disciplined chapters... their flaws and digression from the Codex is very endearing.

As for their colour scheme, while it's not a scheme that I would use when painting my own chapter, it has grown on me and now the a combination of blue-grey and yellow does represent awesome to me, purely because it's the Space Wolves colour scheme (e.g in Forza 3 I painted a TVR Speed 12 with that colour scheme for added awesome, and will often use in in other games in which you can customise your vehicle).

Exposure to the characters and story in the Dawn of War games has made me interested in the Blood Ravens, and I've got quite a soft spot for the Grey Knights, although they're so overpowered it almost feels like cheating.

I've never been too keen on the Blood Angels, Imperial Fists or Ultramarines (although the upcoming Space Marine game may change that), partly because I've never been interested enough to find out more about them, and partly because they were the 3 chapters you could play as in the old Space Crusade game, so they seem a bit standard and default to me.

I will definetly pick Thousand sons, Emperors children or World eaters.
But for the good guys? Meh, Space wolves, vikings in space that can be in droppods, what's more to ask?

I like the green ones with hoods. Space Assassin's Creed!

I played lotr and Fantasy, never 40K. Though I did try merging 40K and Fantasy once and had an Ogre Pirate blow up a tank.

im only familiar with the ultras, yeah.. pretty basic stuff.
I never really bothered learning about the other chapters.

They may be the begginer's army, but i like their flexibility and high armor.. so i can always have something nasty in store for any opponent i face (mostly in the form of drop pods full of pain).

Blood Angel at heart. While I am not a huge fan of the color scheme, their flaws and the Primarch Sanguinius appeal to me to a great degree. As for my least favored: Dark Angels. From an IC perspective; Any Astartes that would love me and my brothers to die is no brother of mine.

That said, I've kind of grown to like, or at least admire, the Ultramarines and the Space Wolves. Mostly due to the new SM game coming out for the Ultras, and the viking/wolf connection for the Wolves.

First I have to say that the crazy fanatical legions of man will fall before the might of the Greater Good.

But OT I've always had a soft spot for the Dark Angels, I guess I just really like the paint scheme.

Blood Ravens. What can I say? The Space Gypsies just speak to me.

Aside from that, I'd say Deathwatch. Technically an inquisition branch, I know, but fack that. They're space marines, and that's all that counts.

That'll be the Dark Angels veterans. They are slightly more covert than the other chapters, though the way they carry themselves they're more Templar-ish, while the Lord Cypher is the Grandmaster Assassin in the picture! =P

My favorite loyal chapter is the Salamanders. Gotta love Space Marines who have a damn near fetish for fire based weapons, care about the people of the Imperuim and can actually take care of their own armor and not bugging the Techmarine to fix it. Also love the Chapter's Primarch as well, fighting off Dark Eldar raiding teams as a "child" with a pair of blacksmith hammers. :D

My least favorite loyal chapter is the Space Wolves, Leman Russ' mangy mutts can F-off for all I care. To me they just come across as a band of drunk dicks and I'm not even going to get started about their (to me) insanely hypocrital nature with the Thousand Sons back during the Great Crusade.

My top three favorite Chaos Legions are the Emperor's Children, Iron Warriors and the Night Lords.

What's not to love about Slaanesh loving madmen armed with Sonic weapons and always craving that next wonderful high when taking a life in battle?

The Iron Warriors I like for the their stance on long range combat with artillery and tanks while smashing the fuck out of a fortress and trolling the Imperial Fists whenever they get the chance.

The Night Lords are something like loners (like me) and really haven't thrown their lot into Chaos for the most part. I like their use of stealth (not just rushing into fire like most chapters do), their love of causing fear in their targets to the point that many die from sheer fright and their primarch who was pretty much the goddamn Batman of the 40K verse but even more brutal then he could ever be. :D

Psht, easy. GREY. MOTHERTRUCKING. KNIGHTS
I'd post a picture of their sheer manly sexy appeal, but I don't know how to do that, so just google them.

Most hated? Ultramarines, easily. They are far too spoiled by GW and their fluff is ridiculous...Marneus calgar blocking an Avatar's blade with his fist...*GRRR*

Crimson Fists, the original and best.

Most hated? None really, I pretty much ignore all the fluff written since about 1994 or so. As far as I'm concerned none of the bullshit...no, wait, Space Wolves, they were the ones that introduced named characters to the game and all the rest of the bullshit, well, maybe arguably Deathwing introduced the "X in space" crap but that was just unimaginative writing, the Space Wolves cemented it as a full on fluff concept.

Catachans.

Yeah, I know nothing about Warhammer, except that I think Catachans, Tyranids, and Tau are cool.

I'm curious how The Imperium is still beset on every side by foes when 90% of the 41st millennium's population appear to be loyal to the Emperor.

Imperial Guard, Sisters of Battle, Witch Hunters, Demon Hunters, Grey Knights, Inquisitors, The Deathwatch, The Assassin Cults... And of course, the innumerable legions of faceless fascist theocrats with the best armour, weapons, training and tactics; faster than Eldar, tougher than Orks, they have extra hearts and can spit fucking acid. One single Chapter of them has more backstory and unit options than entire armies of other species. They came in a dozen different flavours while other armies didn't have models for basic Troop choices.

So. Uh. I guess my least favourite Chapter is all of them. Space Marines' greatest threat is their rebellious younger brothers listening to heavy metal in the basement.

Don't know much about alot of these legions, being a fairly new fluff fan, but since reading "the first heretic" (my first black library novel) I've become rather fond of the word bearers.
