Do you miss it (ie when it was just crappy food, and not bots)? Looks much more palatable than what's been plaguing the board lately.

What do you mean "Do you miss it"? You can still buy Spam in its delicous glory. Nothing says nutrition like refrigerated canned meat!!!

What? No, I see it all the time. How can I miss what is in plain view?

(I've had it, actually. Not bad.)

I actually had some Spam sandwiches last week. I don't eat it often, but I get the urge every few months or so. I stick to Spam Lite though, as regular Spam is too heavy. If I'm going to sabotage my stomach with salt and fat there are far more palatable foods to do it with than a greasy pink slab of indeterminate origin.

Spam with rice and fried egg is actually a pretty common meal for me. It's not as disgusting as it might seem.

The controversial subject though is do your fry the spam in that meal?
I've heard arguments for both ways.

Yes, the egg is fried with it.

I buy it about twice a year. At least two weekends every year are filled with spam musubis, pan-fried spam sandwiches, breaded spam and whatnot.

It's glorious.

But I grow tired of it after about two days.

I don't visit The Escapist nearly as much as I used to. I don't know if it's all the spambots plaguing the forums or the ads or whatnot, but it's incredibly slow to load on any device and any browser. I just counted. It took 19 seconds for the main page to load. And then on top of that I have to deal with sometimes pages of spambots before I find a topic created by an actual human.

The Escapist gods, fix your website if you don't want to go under. Appoint some new moderators, introduce a more layered registration system designed to prevent spambots, improve your servers...for fuck sake just do something! It's like you're not even trying.

I brought a can from Scotland about 12 years ago now, and I have misplaced it somewhere, I hope they don't tend to explode like some canned goods do.

No, like THIS
I used to eat fried spam when I was on a big fried-everything binge, years ago. Can't stand the stuff now. It's the smell!

American Spam played an important part in WW2. The US military got fed up with the stuff, but the UK and USSR, facing rationing and/or famine greatly appreciated it.

I must admit I have never actually tried it. I really should some day, just to see what the fuss is about. But if I want a bit of cheap cold meat I just buy a pack of ham.

As for the actual spam on the website... Yeah, it's a bummer. Escapist used to be a website I check every morning before work but now I don't bother until later as it's impossible to wade through the literally dozens of pages of spam.

Kudos to the modders for keeping on top of it as often as they can though! If only something could be done to actually stop it altogether though.

I use Spam in "Keith's Salad"[footnote]A dish made by a neighbor of ours--Keith--long ago for the 4-H club.[/footnote] which is a noodle salad with chopped celery, macaroni, chopped green onions, cubed cheese flavored with yellow mustard and mayonnaise with a dash of black pepper. It's surprisingly tasty (just don't overdo the condiments). The Spam and cheese are what make the dish stick to your ribs.

On a different note, I'm shocked--shocked, I tell you--that no one has brought up everyone's favorite source of Spam: Monty Python!

And if spambots weren't enough to convince you that this site has some serious problems, probably of financial kind, how about the fact that there's not a single official E3 event story yet? Every other functional gaming website reports those stories immediately.
