Not that it matters a great deal but technically there isn't such a thing as a 'British Accent'...given that Britain is 5 countries that all sound rather different (well eire and n.ireland are similar-ish)
I just assume people tend to mean a over the top english posh accent...which I do sometimes too....I am English - but sometimes I just like to talk in a spiffingly good manner to elaborate my point to my fellow chums
