Hey, ummm...If I really liked Max Payne I'd be all over that. Actual PHYSICAL bonuses instead of in-game bullshit.

As is, I'm all Collector's Edition'd out after Skyrim and then FF13-2's CE a few months later.

I feel rather similar, actually. I like to buy special editions of games because I want to support it, and because the game in question is special to me. I mean, if I get an artbook or a little action figure to go with it, awesome, but please don't cut parts out of the game in order to try and sell more collector's editions.

Pre-order bonuses ride that line already, depending on how large/important the clipped content turns out to be.

That's just how I feel about it though, everybody has a different stance on this stuff.

I have to say a "Collector's Edition" should cost no more than double what the game does unless it has something truly epic, and this one surely doesn't.

Loved that game, but man does that cover still suck, even almost a year later.

WTF is with the horrible effects on the cover?

Loved the original Max Payne... but nope, not buying this. Even if I were to pretend the disappointment that was Max Payne 2 never happened, still nope. I just can't fathom spending that much money for trinkets I'll look at and maybe admire once, then never have a use for ever again (and likely forget about).

You ust reminded me that I need to buy that for my PS3, only buying exclusives for my PS3. Also that bag is awesome.

OT: I haven't bought a collectors edition of a game I can't afford it. I might eventually if there is a super awesome one.

They never go too far, so long as the standard edition is available.

I will also take this opportunity to point out that where I live, $98 sometimes won't even get you a standard copy at retail.

This isn't at $98. It's £98. I don't know how big the difference is, I guess you'd wanna use a currency converter.

It's about $156 dollars (give or take).

Pretty much all those LCEs that contain statuettes are stupidly overpriced. It's silly. I learnt that the hard way with Assassin's Creed 2. Before that I used to get LCEs of pretty much every game I cared about, but I'm far more cautious of them now.

And I used to think that in-game bonuses were what made an LCE worth it, after getting stung by AC2, but I don't think that any more. They can very often un-balance the game. I don't really know what should be in LCEs, but I know one that's doing it really well is the Dark Edition of The Witcher 2. I wanted that so bad but they ran out of stock before I cold order, damn it!

Nearly £100 and what you get is shit.

Yeah, value for money right there. I think i'd rather smother my genitals in fish paste and dangle them over a tank of hungry Piranha.

I got the Halo: Reach legendary edition for £120, do I regret it? Yes

Although it looks cool, and what you get in it is also very cool, I hardly play the game, and I wish I saved up the money for more computer parts, or maybe even another CE, like Skyrim.

I hate how nowadays you have to choose between a 50$ bootleg-quality DVD case and a 150$ atrocity filled with all sorts of useless crap, nevermind the generic box art.

It's not digital distribution that's killing retail, it's this shit. TW2 was the only game with a good standard physical edition last year, and guess what - it had 80% retail sales.

Yet everyone thinks retailer and CE-exclusive DLC is the answer. GameStop and co were even mad at CDP, because they made that DLC available for everyone postrelease.

I never go for the SE´s anymore unless it offers something i want really bad.
Or the price is acceptable.

Steelcases, statues, DLC are a bane on SE's these days.
(i hate statues, seriously, were do people put them without cluster****'ng their house?)

I love artbooks or unique cool items, a Vault-Tech lunchbox, Pip Boy Bobblehead,
AC ENcyclopedia or that Halsey notebook with Halo Reach.
(did'nt even care much about Halo before, but the details and stuff in that thing...)

I admit i prefer/love replica's and such from games i like/love, but the mostly superficial stuff nowadays turns me away from SE's and mostly the boxart too.
The Infamous 2 cover stated above is a great example of such a thing.
And don't get me started on the N7 steelcase, why does Femshep have text over it?
