I realized that after I reread it again. Sorry about that. I got done arguing with someone on a separate gaming site about a similar situation. They thought that since I was willing to link evidence to something that I was just as bad as the person in the subject.

Well just another example how slactivists and crazy people on the net tend to play man behind the curtain really. Point still stands though.. till now no one has ever broken into a doxxed persons home or used physical violence on them... and lets hope it stays that way.

No, "most" police installations don't have anything of the sort, that's why cybercrimes get reported to the FBI and the police have been basically useless at stopping SWATting beyond learning to not react so heavy handed to every call.

A semi-compentent script kiddie can basically get away with calling in false 911 calls forever, the only time these dumbasses get caught is when they brag in a public space like Twitter or facebook where the police can link it back to a real identity.

Even the FBI doesn't really bother trying to track down anyone intelligent enough to use a VPN or an unsecured WiFi connection. If someone eventually does get killed by it then they might start making more of an effort, but it won't be the local police it will be the FBI or other equivalent organizations in other countries.

He and people like him are the reason we're going to be dealing with doxxing and other kinds of harassment as long as there's an internet.

When you allow an exception based on a subjective quality, such as it being 'deserved', it follows that assholes of any political or moral leaning have all the justification they need to continue with such tactics.
Whatever impressive moral contortionist feats they have to perform, anyone who harasses and doxxes probably feels justified in doing so.
They tell themselves that the target 'deserves' what they're getting.

Of course, they're as wrong as they could be, but with statements like the one from Sessler, there's a nice piece of validation for them.

A lot of people are more flexible on this than they'd likely admit. Just look at the recent Ashley Madison issue where a lot of posters on this site were pretty much saying "fuck 'em, they deserve it" to the victims because they didn't like the activity they were involved in(i.e. cheating on their spouses).

Most people have principles when it's convenient, but it's hard to maintain them when someone you really dislike is in the crosshairs.

Eh I did jump on it rather fast I admit, but how he just 'looked' at Jim and said those words. .. how is one not to assume he was insulting our Sterling man? Then again by this guy's reputation, he might as well of been calling Jim names ... for his ego is driving him downwards.

Jim then smiles and nods and says something that sounds like agreement. I admit, I'm listening to the volume low because I'm in game chat right now and I don't know what he said. But I would encourage people to look for more than a 13 second clip hosted by people with a vested interest in pushing a narrative. All I had to do was type in "Adam Sessler Doxing" to find results that looked less than beneficial.

If Sessler is pro-doxing, so is Jim, for the record.

I agree with CrossGuard on this. Not advocating for doxing the harassers is the best way to go about it. Only way I can see of dealing with anonymity harassers is just to ignore them.
