I did the speed runs in Mirror's Edge. Took me just over an hour and fifteen minutes. It was a total blast!
Wow damn haha. I playd the game twice in 2 days and on my second playthrough I did the harder mode and played it start to finish it just under 3 hours. Not bad considering I wasnt trying to do a speedrun.

A friend and I completed RE5 in under 4 hours for the Infinite Rocket launcher for me, not really an impressive speed run, especially with the Handcannons we used but it's a really fun game to run through and laugh at some of the cutscenes.

I used to speed run Left 4 Dead quite alot, but that was more strategy then anything, when playing against humans, speeding ahead often took them by surprise and our whole team would make it to the safe house in half the time it would take if we were playing properly.

I'm gonna be getting Dark Souls tomorrow and I'll be attempting a speed run of Demon's Souls to celebrate. My fastest time so far has been just under 6 hours, and that was when doing everything. I'm hoping to at least cut that time in half. Anywho, I just thought I'd ask my fellow Escapees if they'd ever done a speed run.

Have you ever done a speed run?
What game have you done a speed run of?
How long did it take you to complete the speed run?
Did you have fun while doing the speed run?
If you are looking for a DS speedrun watch this video:

I beat DS in a bit over an hour (and I did a SL 1 playthrough), I also did some speedruns in the first Mario games and Half Life (in the unpatched version with bunny-jumping :p).

Though as I have less and less time nowadays, I often just do a playthrough on hardest difficulty from the get-go and then I'll spend my time with another game.
But there are a few exceptions like some RPGs I keep on playing.

The only time I think I ever tried to speed run on KOTOR 2; 15 (or possibly 17) hours, although that did involve doing some of the side missions; I could probably do it much quicker if I just focused on the main story. Normally my playthroughs are anywhere between 19-25 hours.

Speed run of Dawn of War 2: Retribution (Imperial Guard Campaign) took me about six hours.

Shogun: Total War; speed run of a Uesegi campaign (auto-resolving battles); four hours.

I've speed run Pokemon Crystal, disregarding post game content, took me around 7-8 hours tops with bathroom breaks and eating.

Speed Run my old SNES Aladdin game, simply because I felt like beating that shit again after blowing the dust off, took me under an hour, literally about 55 minutes, hilarious seeing as how in my younger years it seemed so frustratingly hard.

Speed Ran Portal, three hours and a few minutes over.

Speed Ran HL2, E1, E2. HL2 took me around 6-8 hours I believe, E1 about 4, and E2 again about 4.

Tried Speed Running ME, meaning no side missions besides loyalty for the few characters I would be using in the Suicide Mission and no buying anything other than ship essentials and some weapon upgrades. That shit ended up with only me, Garrus and Zaeed surviving, will not be porting that shit over xD Took me...I wante to say at the least about 20 hours? Give or take one or two? Everyone in that game just loves to talk.

I used to speedrun some levels in Quake 1, but I was never on a world level at it.
I DID have a really, really fast time on a few levels though, with the criterias for the speedrun being "Kill every creature, find every secret". We had a small community (and by small I mean like 20 people or so) doing this, and I held the record for the first level for quite some time.
I bought Quake 1 on steam not long ago and attempted this, and then I curled up into a ball and cried.

I've done speed runs in Scott Pilgrim: the Game and Nier (mainly because there were achievements for it).

Actually I think there's a speed run achievement for Way of the Samurai 3 that I have as well... I may need to update my backloggery again.

I've never done a speed run. I don;t see the point in trying to speed through since I don't attribute much value to the notion of getting the fastest time. Games aren't races after all.
What if it's a racing game?
Thenl it's not a speed run, they go for world record time trials.

On topic, I think speed runs are cool especially for open world games. I don't know how linear demon souls is. Honestly if it's rather linear I wouldn't exactly be interested in speed running the game, but for more open ended games it takes a lot of effort to get a good speed run time, knowing what you can skip, planning your path in order to get the fastest time, and stretching the game to its limits to see if there is anything you can abuse. There is more to it than that but there is a special kind of preparation required for speed running a game that really doesn't happen in most games.

I don't really do speedruns. I just don't have the time or inclination to memorise any game that well.
