Continuing the cartoon theme, Has it occured to anyone else that these characters seem to be the most recurring cartoon series around? Not that theres anything wrong with them despite the smell of nostalgia but still surely companies like Marvel and DC can find another one of their characters a shot at the small screen? My question is, if you were to give a superhero a cartoon series of their own, who would it be and in what kind of style?

Personally I wouldnt mind seeing a Ghost Rider cartoon.

I'd like a cartoon for The Silver Surfer maybe... or how about a cartoon based purely on the Marvel vs DC storyline since those were epic fights. I'd like the whole thing to be done with kind of a Batman of The Future vibe except the Silver Surfer to be very camp.

I want to see them actually revive Shi and bring that out in a style similar to the 90's batman animated series, or even a Semi-anime ( meaning the more realistic less Disney-inspired look)...preferably keeping and drawing out the way of the warrior arch...

another one I want to see is chastity, or Dawn.. both should be done fairly close to the books look

I'd love to see a decent Nextwave series, but mostly, yeah, they're the most interesting superheroes. Superman is just bad, Captain America is a niche market, Iron Man is a decent contender but would be seen as the red and gold Batman...

There was a Silver Surfer toon a while back.

Edit: If I recall they tried to make it angsty as he often Whined about missing Shalla-Bal

In fact to the OP. Many shows have been tried but never done well. The Fantastic Four had a Series (looking it up) in 1967, 1978, and 1994. I remember the 1994 one and it played back to back with an Iron Man series.

fantastic 4 had a series even older than that, late 60's 70's and early 80's saw a major boom in marvel based cartoons...

the newest iron man cartoon pisses me off...Im getting really tired of them re-writing it to be an alternate universe.. I mean Stark as a High School kid is just......thats too much.

Good call Ace, I forgot all about those, not to mention a series they had in 2005. I dont know whether Im too much of an optimist or not but I do believe, if done right, a character such as Captain America or Superman can be made interesting.

I'd probably improve the ones I've seen, which I admit aren't that many..(and random episodes from those cartoons)

The only change would be to make the villains in the cartoons I've seen a bit smarter.
I mean, all of the villains I've seen in Spiderman, Batman and X-men(less in this one for some reason) never really tried to do anything other than failing their plans. The only way it would be easier to stop them would be if they mailed their plans to the hero of the story.

Hell, "there are 5 bombs in the city" is a great plot device, but when the fifth is only found when the villain tells the hero where it is, what's the godddamn point? Especially when some deus ex machina is going to make sure the hero survives even when that fifth bomb is in some safe that locks behind the hero and there are 5 seconds left on the timer...(this was the plot in one of the Batman cartoons I saw, and it was also the last episode I ever watched)

Dogwelder. We NEED a Dogwelder cartoon series. Alternatively a Section 8 cartoon series would also suffice.

I rest my case.

I would feel like doing X-men in anime to poke fun at anime and give X-men a new twist.

interesting. I'd imagine a wolverine story would fit in wonderfully with the style
