He's going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over his head," said Steve Wacker, Marvel Comics senior editor.
....
Parker's work history includes photographer, assistant high school coach, science teacher and scientific researcher, according to his biography on the Marvel Web site. His education includes a college degree in biophysics and some postgraduate work in biochemistry.
So Peter Parker's continuing record of being life's punching bag continues. Thoughts?

Take off the mask, forget love, and make the state pay 'im for saving everyone. That'd fix anyone's economic troubles.

Can't he just live on flies the rest of his life? That's what a real spider would do!

Or he could eat the bad guys he defeats.

There's this other guy who kind of already does that
and I just don't see ol' spidey muscling in on his turf.

Flippin' burgers? I dunno. Maybe he could get a job teaching rock climbing or something.

I've always sympathized with Spider Man. Throughout years of comic books, TV Shows and movies, despite the fact he's always fighting crime, the cities crime rate never actually seems to decrease. Essentially, everything he's doing is totally pointless, and he's not getting paid for it.

Perhaps he should give up, and get a job in the entertainment industry?
I will make the argument that he has made it all worse.

Crime doesn't go down, but if he stops being Spidey, crime will go up.

I don't think it goes one day without Spidey thinking "Fuck!"

They won't hire him with a biophysics degree, they'll say he's overqualified.

You know if I was Spider-man. I would like escort people around town and charge them for it. Also constructing a giant web in the middle of like a staduim would be my home.

Perhaps he should give up, and get a job in the entertainment industry? He could do an Audie Murphy deal, and play himself in movies! Then the movies would be about him in the movies!

And then my head would explode.
Better yet: he could dance in a musical with Steve Rogers in the next "Captain America" movie. Even the colors of their costumes match!

Thats what made him and Batman successful characters. Parker is a normal guy who has to face everyday challenges that normal people face but then has to put on a mask and take a beating to save the city.

I stopped reading Spider Man after One More Day.

I've yet to regret my decision.

Go read Ultimate Spiderman instead. Bendis hasn't disappointed yet. And the recent #7 cover is amazing.

....Didn't Peter reveal himself as Spider-Man during the Civil War? What happened to that?

Do I smell the potential for a "Spidey goes evil and starts stealing shit" storyline?

See, this is why I've always had Spiderman as one of my top 2 superheroes - it actually feels like Spiderman is the alter-ego, not Peter Parker (Not so much the case with, for example, Batman, of whom I'm also a fan. Or, for other Marvel examples, Deadpool, the X-men, the Hulk...)
