Why did they cancel Spiderman 4? To add insult to injury the Spiderman movies series is getting a re-boot!! And if the rumors are true, the man character (that's right Peter Parker, folks) is going to be played by Robert Patterson; the F**KING homosexual sparkilng vampire for the dissappointing Twilight Series... All I can say is "DEAR GOD, WHY!!?"

Why not?
And never believe rumours. They tend to be of questionable quality.

Do they really already have someone cast for this?

And Robert Pattenson of all people?

he's not nerdy or lovable like peter parker.

Well that does it, I'm not going to give this one a chance. I flat out refuse to see such rubbish.

Y'know, since they're re-booting the Spiderman movies, I think they need more vikings.

Just a thought.

Spiderman was 3 was great. Sure Vemon needed a little more screen time and, Sandman could of had a better probable cause but a Peter Parker played by Robert Paterson? I'd rather have a scene in Spiderman 4 were Tobey Migure has to dance and cry.... AT THE SAME TIME!!!

Don't know much about whether Pattinson will actually be Peter Parker (It's a null point until the Studios find a Director), but after the problem which was Spiderman 3 they needed to do something to get the series more in line with the comic book especially after both McGuire and Raimi bowed out. Love it or hate it, but too many villains crowded in one movie, with too many changes to the integrity and familiarity of them (Eddie Brock's Venom, for one.) combined with such things like Gwen Stacey being both alive, and part of Peter's life AFTER he and MJ are already together warrants a start over.

Sure, it sucks that they figured this out only months before the proposed release, but it's better then getting a movie that the Studios clearly had issues with producing. I'd rather see a 2 year wait and a more solid attempt than something the Studio itself believed wasn't quite making the grade.

Plus, it gives Thor more of the lamplight and that can only help another Marvel Movie, which has less of a following than the flagship character Spiderman.

Let's just sit back and hope they cast well, have screenwriters worth their salt, and that the revamp in 2012 means more enjoyment for us not-so-patient movie goers.

After spiderman 3 why would this upset anyone?
It now has an indirect connection to Twilight.
I seem to be the only 20 year old male on the planet who's hatred hasn't driven me on enough to see or care about twilight. In my ignorance, my logic says that you can't break shattered series after it's been shattered, there was no way that spiderman was going to recover as a series, and the casting of any new ones is completely seperate to the original two. So basicially, how can anybody care? It is in no way associated with the first two.

I dunno, maybe when you are angry at something you take any chance you get to continue being angry?

Because 3 was horrible, add to the fact they killed Norman Osborn off way too early (and didn't have Tommy Lee Jones play him).

I don't actually dislike Robert Pattinson, sure Twilight is horrible, but he's just a guy cashing a check. Also even he wants out of the Twilight franchise, he's been sabotaging Twilight as much as he can in an attempt to get them to cancel his contract (he stands to lose a shit load of money/damage his career if he cancels). He has openly called Stephanie Myer a creepy cat lady on and said the series was just her wet dream.

I'd be good with a reboot if it did three things:
1. Have a wisecracking spiderman, this is the number 1 thing the previous films lacked. Spiderman is a fun character making bad puns and sarcastic comments even in the middle of the busiest fights.
2. It's called Spiderman, not Peter Parker, never have him fight or do spiderman stuff without his mask. Don't spend too much time on Peter, sure his life sucks and he has to juggle everything but that's depressing and boring, short segments are really all we need.
3. Tie it in with the Avengers, I know it's unlikely but it would be awesome. Especially if they could get Wolverine as well (he was pretty much free at the end of X:3)

Edit: I mean it would be awesome if Wolverine was in the avengers alongside Spiderman, not him guest star in a spiderman movie.

Haha, of course. I guess I should've worked that out for myself.

My guess is that its because everyone bitched about the 3rd movie, so Sony wanted to change it. Raimi didn't agree, so Sony cancelled it.
