The trailer looked TERRIBLE, in my humble opinion anyway. he looks like some mopey kid who just needs a smack upside the head, I want a loveable nerd to whom I can relate. As for the quality of the acting I cant really comment, I don't follow actors that much, but the character himself looks much worse.
Also, i cant wait for 3D to be over.

I do like Garfield. He was great in the Social Network and in Never Let Me Go. It all depends on the writing though. Macguire was great in the first two. The third is something I'd rather not think about though...

I care more about the quality of writing.

The first two movies were awesome. The third was an insult to Spidey fans.

I think Maguire did a good job. However, all actors are limited by the material. A horrible role well-acted is still a horrible role.

I feel the same way except about directors a good director will make or break a film and in turn writters are very important if not the most outside a director.
