So...are we meant to assume we'll have Batman: Arkham World sometime in the future? Did anyone get that besides me...? Because if so...I SAY NO! Arkham City was good but not as god as Arhkam Asylum. I can only imagine what yet ANOTHER sequel would look like, especially now that Mark Hamill said he wasn't going to voice The Joker anymore.

I'm not surprised about Skyrim getting GOTY award, though I still think Skyward Sword deserved it more. Sure, they're trying to be hipster by letting Portal take the Best Multiplayer award right over MW3 and BF3, but noooooooo!

Zachary Levi was actually a good host. But I'm not surprised; he IS alright. You know, as in not obnoxious or trying too hard to be funny by rambling random host banters. Thus, he's a gamer. And Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert.

It was funny to watch Hideo Kojima stutter as he tried to communicate with us silly Americans. It was awkward too...but he's Hideo Kojima! Who cares?!

Honestly, I only watched it because we don't have that many televised video game awards show. The only other one I can think of is GDC, and that's around July/August. And this one. *Sigh*

Someone needs to come up with really good, honest and fair video game awards show.

I thought it went pretty well. Yeah it had some kinda dumb shlocky stuff, but it's an awards show, what do you expect? It was funny where it counted, moved on fast where it wasn't, and short of MW3 winning best shooter I agreed with all their choices.

And even if none of the reveals had quite the same impact that Skyrim's had last year, I'm still too jazzed that Alan Wake is getting continued to care.

I found it enjoyable, in between explaining gamer culture to my mom.

Then they announced that BioWare was making C&C Generals 2, and I shat a brick.

The VGA's are awful and always try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. This wouldn't be bad if it wasn't a reminder of how the rest of the world views gaming as a hobby. We're all immature wastrels, apparently.

However, the one thing that really killed me was the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance trailer. My god, what happened? They were showing trailers for it last year that displayed a kind of sword based game that pushed the limits of what a hack-and-slash can be and had an emphasis on stealth. Now it seems to be all over the top, Bayonetta/DMC, flash bullshit based action. Otherwise known as "Mash X to win." I loved the MGS series and the original Metal Gear games were great fun, but this just looks like an abomination that will create all sorts of "how powerful is Raiden, exactly?" based inconsistencies with the story. I mean, since he is still all cyborg'd up, I can only assume it is before MGS4. However, if he is able to throw a mother fucking metal gear ray, and slice it in two in one strike, then how the fuck was a band of geckos ever a problem for him in MGS4?

God I hate what this is becoming.

Edit: In the end, unless it becomes the new DMC, I can only see this becoming the equivalent of Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus.

What? I hear alot of "Waaaaah what I like isn't popular but subjectively good to me so I must hate what's popular" in this thread. It's just a show for Christ's sake, if you don't agree with it good for you.

I heard that Gears of War 3 didn't win anything it was nominated for, so therefore I didn't like it.
Yah didn't Spike also air the midnight release of the game?

I loved how the show kept randomly cutting back to Hulk Hogan for seemingly no reason other than that he is contracted under Spike TV.

didnt watch, its a joke.

who ever brings the awards more money wins. why do you think MW3 wins?
The game barely got a mention. It won best shooter, and I think one the characters got nominated (and lost). That's about it.
fair enough, but still, its a popularity contest that i refuse to watch.

I gave up on them quite a while ago. But whenever I get really bothered with their choices, I just tell myself "The decisions are made by people who voted on the website, and most gamers with dignity would rather spend their time playing games rather than voting for them." Coincidentally I think the same thing at the MTV movie/music awards. I mean really? There was a year that Twilight walked off with half the rewards, clearly the whole poll was done by teenage girls.
Not this year.

They were all voted by a panel with the exception of like 3 awards (not even big ones either).
Did people even get to vote on who was in the panel?

I'm just kind of guessing that they are some of the most immature and disrepectful rewards gaming has. If it didn't have the announcements then nobody would watch it. Shame, because the Inside Gaming awards happened the night before, which were extremely better because they had categories such as "Best Sound Design" and "Best Graphic Design".

Also, teabagging if the victory speech is too long? COME ON! THIS is why video games will never be getting good recognition any time soon

And actually, I thought they were better than last year. I mostly only watched it for premiers and stuff though, some awards were deserved, some not, (Female voice of he year was totally was wrong. Terra Strong deserved it :\)

Also The Last of Us trailer and the reveal of the devolper...best thing EVER

Announcement trailers? A game was announced? When?

It's just a big marketting pat themselves on the back for spending lots of money deal, and nothing more than that.

Well there was no "More of The Same" award.
