Yes, so a game called Splatterhouse should have deep emotionaly driven characters and be conservative with its violence, yup that makes sense.

In an age where videogames may be censored for basically being violence simulators or a new medium of softcore porn, a company would really remake Splatterhouse with this much added gore?
I realize some games have really capitalized on the intense violence (God of War, Gears of War, etc.), but we need to really think about what kind of image this game is giving the non-gaming population.
Games are already being blamed for causing kids to act violently as much as unprotected boinking of a prostitute is blamed for causing rashes and the sex-sniffles.
Let's try and push the envelope a little bit here and go for more innovative/less mindlessly violent games; games like (but not remakes of) Portal or Mirror's Edge.
Let's push for better storytelling, with more plot than "...and then he tore the zombie's spinal cord out and proceeded to beat it back to death." Creative storytelling like Assassin's Creed, Brutal Legend, Mass Effect, and Fable should be at the forefront of our imagination. Not stuff like Jeffrey Dahmer's Day in the Market.

Seriously guys, this is getting embarassing, let's make a change PLEASE!
Games are:
Violence simulators?
Porn?

Nice of you to make an account here, Mr Glenn Beck.

Yeah! Because I demand that everything be enjoyable for my, and my tastes! People that have fun differently can screw themselves, because only thousands of games come out a year, and even though I'll only play a few of them, each and every one that I wouldn't enjoy offends me on a deeply personal level.

Seriously, dude. More games is a good thing. I'd rather have a diverse medium than one the purely caters to me.

I don't know, I just see it as far over the top.
I'm not a fan of Gears, God, or Splatter
I'm even iffy when it comes to Black Ops (not buying it)
I don't blame people for wanting to buy these games, I'm just not thrilled about them at all.
Mindless gore is kinda just pointless to me. =/
When you say it seems pointless, then why should it bother you? The only difference I've seen with Black Ops is that a shotgun at close range will dismember an enemy, or occasionally you'll be bombarded with flying pieces of flesh from a grenade explosion.

As for splatterhouse its best games like this dont come out offten no matter how fun they are. The game industry dose kind of have a rep to protect

That's KIND OF THE FREAKING POINT.

No offense to the OP, that's not who I'm yelling at. I'm yelling at the people who haven't played a game in their life but still hate on games. I know my complaining on a forum doesn't do a thing to help, but that's also kind of the point: Forums are for complaining.

Now, Splatterhouse looks terrible (not it the "bad gameplay" way, the "disgusting" way), yes. A colored, well-executed non-Wii Madhouse. It will probably get a lot of hate, seeing as it looks to me like the game version of Kickass, Kickass being gory, containing nudity/sex, drug use, and anything else that could make a game/ movie get rated M/R. Despite that, this gives the gaming industry a great chance to do something great that we haven't done in a while, something that will let us take a huge step forward.

We can say we'll make what we damn well please for who we damn well please it to be for, and we'll be damned if you try to stop us. Would it be better if it were done with, say, a game that has more redeeming qualities (don't get your panties in a bunch, I mean in the way of complex story and creative gameplay mechanics, the gameplay might be messianic for all I know)? Yes. Very much so. If we had taken this kind of stand with Mass Effect or one of the GTA's, games that have some-to-most of their vulgarity explained or at least not purposeless, it would've been much more beneficial. When this gets hate, though, the most we can do is buckle our knees and say we don't care. We may not be able to support why we don't care or have anything to hold up and say "Y'see, this makes it okay.", but we don't need that.

If we can buckle our knees and take some hatred in the public's eyes, then HURRAY, we're going the way of early films that were just starting to include vulgarity. So, there are some good things about this. Let's just wait for the coming apocalypse and see if we come out alive.

So wait. God of War came out this year, and we all know how long these legal battles take. So you mean that God of War is just fine, but splatterhouse is pushing the envellope?
THANK YOU! Here's a game that allows you to outright murder innocent/harmless individuas for health, xp, and game progression, and not a damned soul stops and says "this is bad, mmmkay?
