Splinter Cell Conviction massive game breaking problem

This evening all of my save data miraculously disappeared from the xbox360 leaving all my upgrades and achievements intact. I tried various ways of possibly fixing it but to no avail.

Later on I went to the ubisoft support page and found many people with the same problem even though some of them have no uplay account or internet connect for their console. It seems this problem has been around since day one but is coming to light now.

It would be good if Escapist could investigate this as Ubisoft seem to be attempting to bury their head in the sand.

Wow. That sucks man.

It actually reminds me of a glitch in Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Where if you got out of guide then hit start really fast to get into the main menu it would restart your stats.

I had 20,000 XP left to go to Elite, which if you played the game, thats pretty damn close.

Then BAM! All gone.

Haven't played the game since. Although I heard that patched that... so maybe they'll get to this one eventually.

I'm not that bothered about story mode but there's no way I'm playing through last stand in realistic and risking losing the data. It's very time consuming and you couldn't do it all in one sitting unless you're a machine.

It's a huge deal for ubisoft and they are handling it REALLY badly.

I had a similar glitch with Arkum Asylum right before the last boss fight and that was close to heart breaking so I feel your pain.

On a side note is Conviction worth buying or is it more of a rent?

It's tough to say. I have played all the previous games and loved them, and I loved this...until it broke lol
There seem to be a lot of people saying they hate the new style etc. If you're in doubt I'd rent it and do the single single player mode (it only takes about 6hrs) and then give multi-player a quick whirl. If you like the general gameplay then you should love multi-player. It's highly addictive and often incredibly challenging.

But of course I would wait until they fix the damn game unless you plan on doing it all in one sitting.

Alright I'm just gonna come straight out and say it. FUCK THIS GAME! It just lost my data AGAIN! Do not buy this game. Ubisoft do not give a shit that this problem exists and it could happen to you.

Its not just Splinter Cell, it can happen in every game. For me it was Arkham Asylum, for my friend it was Fallout 3.

ouch that sucks, ill remember to wait for a patch on that,

and Batman: AA man I've played like to 60% like 4 times >.< Twice it said Data Corrupt, the last 2 times was due to even though I backed up my saves before reinstalling my PC it wouldn't read my old data

Ubisoft are a shower of assholes, it's nothing new. This is just another brick in the wall of 'fuck you' they've been building lately to alienate thier customers.

But yeah, that sucks man. I feel ya because the same thing happened to me with Far Cry 2... surprise surprise another Ubishite game.
