I've noticed most people don't seem to have played the original 3 spyro games. I was just wondering what the escapist thinks of them. I personally liked them a lot.
Played them? PLAYED THEM!?

My mom, she is a spyro FREAK, and always want to play them, no matter what day it is or if I'm working on Assassin creed.

"Put on spyro!"

Bah, that is my hell my friend/
You are not alone my friend. GET ME MY PLAYSTATION BACK THE WOMAN IS HOLDING IT HOSTAGE.

I only have Year of the Dragon (3) and it's held my attention longer then any other PS1 game. So... yeah. It's awesome.

They were fun platforming games. I have more fond memories of Spyro than I do the original Crash Bandicoot games. Been thinking about grabbing one of the newer Spyro games...
No, no, NO! Dude, DON'T. Just don't. Trust me.

Insomniac sold the franchise to Universal after the third game, so any later ones were produced by lazy incompetents whose only priority was to make a quick buck. The resulting games are so INCREDIBLY bad that some who have played them, altogether refuse to acknowledge their existence.

Personally, I say they have NO legitimate connection WHATSOEVER to the purple dragon we all know and love.

loved them. My little brother just got into games and is playing them for his first time. So much pride.

they are my childhood. Them and Crash Bandicoot. Anything past the PS1 games for either series is a lie and will never be considered canon or worthwhile.

Never played them, and that's odd seeing how much I love dragons.

It's one of the gaps in my "gaming portfolio" as it were.
This is my position, too.
also: Nice avatar, I've always loved that card's art. :D
What can I say? Dan Scott is the man. Sure wish I could draw and paint that well..

I actually like the card too.
Fun Fact: It's still the only strictly-Red/Blue/Green creature in the entire game.
Every other creature that has those colors is also 4 or 5 colors.
After a quick look through my collection, it appears to be one of only two cards (split cards don't count -.-) that are strictly R/G/U. So for the longest time Guided Passage sat alone (Invasion Block-- Apoc). Intet was a sight for sore eyes :D

I liked them as a kid, although I think they frustrated the completionist in me a few times...that and levels where you could easily fall off and die kinda was lame.
But the combination of puzzle solving and action was pretty fun. Although I wouldn't go back and play them again, good times.

Pssh. My first videogames ever. Piece of my childhood. Clearly one of humanity's most important accomplishments.

Also, the best thing the universe has ever produced.

But only the first three. Obviously, the rest suck. Hard.

I see you have a particular (from the new set) dragon for your avatar.

First was awesome, second was ok but still better than the 'new' ones, and Year of the Dragon was the best of them all. I have all 3 on PSN.

1- I admittedly didn't dig this one, never beat it, was never afraid of Nasty Gnorc. A fun romp, but overall meh to me.

2- This game was a gem in my childhood. Played it over and over with little habits, like always burning the world's flags. Loved every character, every world, every bit of dialogue. And I beat it, oh the epicness of that battle between me and Ripto.

3- I enjoyed it, beat the sorceress, but I never beat everything, only defeated her but never got the final door. Sure the eggs were cool, and some stuff was neat but overall It didn't feel on par with 2. Too much stuff, like the skateboarding, extra characters, certain segments. Felt to waited down. Also it wasn't nearly as funny. However I did like some of the returnin characters, the new ones were pretty good admittedly, and I loved seeing hunter get some more character time, I loved how crazy he went for that kiss. I wish we coulda seen more professor and that faun but hey, can't win em all.

I have completely beaten 2 so many times it's not funny.

But in Spyro 3, for the longest time i was missing just 10 GEMS. It turned out to be one 10 gem piece BEHIND THE FRICKIN SNAKE PORTAL THING

They're amazing. Just makes it that much more sad that the series has been raped so badly after Insomniac abandoned it. Same goes for Crash Bandicoot. :'(
