So, my fellows escapees, in the late 90's, whilst I was but an apple-cheeked youngster I bought a PS1. Along with it I got a game called Spyro the Dragon. 'Twas but a simple platformer, but oh so many hours I've spent playing that game. I tought it was an underrated star.

But now, my fellow men, I ask you: Have you played it, liked it or even heard of it?

TLDR; Spyro the Dragon, opinions?
I love the Insomniac games. I often daydream of kidnapping them and forcing them to make Spyro the Dragon 4: GOD HELP US HE'S GOT A FUCKING CHAINSAW.

Spyro the Dragon 3 was my first ever game (along with Crash Team Racing) and it remains my favourite game ever. I'm buying Portal 2 next week though, so we'll see how that shifts.

This. I miss those innocent epic days so much.

The first Spyro the dragon is practically what got me into video games. Too bad they got rid of most of the things (in my opinion) that made the game fun. I listen to there music for the pure nostalgia.

Oh my god Spyro, I loved those games, they were some of my best gaming childhood memories :) I mean in Spyro 3 you could skateboard. With rockets. Just picture that: a dragon on a rocket skateboard. I don't know about you, but that sounds like the definition of cool to me :p then they had to ruin it. I tried, TRIED to like the crappy next gen ones, even when they started bringing in shitty new characters, but god dammit, Spyro was butchered. So sad.

Spyro and Crash Bandicoot were the foundations to my childhood (that and Star Wars). Although, once both those titles reached the PS2 they rapidly went downhill.

I love the first three games to death, with Ripto's Rage (Gateway to Glimmer for those of you in England) being the best. Still have the discs, actually.

I also enjoy the Legend of Spyro trilogy as well. Though I belong to a minority to that.

Owned and beat the first 3 on the PS1 and Enter the Dragonfly and Hero's Tale on the Gamecube. Didn't like the last 2 so much, but the first 3 were awesome! Those were my favorite games as a kid. In fact, thats where I got my username.

The new Spyro needs to die, though.

That picture of "new Spyro" made me so sad :( the PS1 Spyros are so so awesome. I've got one of the PS2 ones but ... urgggghhh ... it's awful, made worse with them shoehorning in Gnasty Gnork.

Spyro 3 was my first real introduction to platform gaming, asides from playing Mario on my friends N64, and because of this I still say it's better than Crash. Although in my heart I have a sneaking suspicion Crash is better.

I was more of a Rayman 1 (only 1) and Oddworld fan. Crash Bandicoot was also at the top of my list followed by Spyro. Good times. Now, there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING except RTS's that make me want to play games.

Good as a child, sucked as an adult.

So boring now... the humor is dry and the platforming is bad
The humour sucks but what's wrong with the platforming? I think it's brilliant, certainly no worse than most other platformers out there.

Same here.
Spyro 2 + 3, crash 1+2+3.
I was also obsessed with digimon world for PS1 but crash is the best

I'm sorry. It's very, very real.

On an unrelated note, that fucking captcha shit we have to do, half of them are fucking unreadable.

I loved Spyro, I still pick it up every so often but later ones just don't do it for me. Same with Crash Bandicoot.

I love Spyro. I especially love the legend of Spyro. That was a great series.

KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE! AND BURN DOWN THE SEIRRA BUILDING!

I will not allow one of my childhood heroes look like... THAT. I just barely accepted Teen Spyro in TLoS: Dawn of the dragon. BUT THAT!?

The hell are you talking about? There were only three Spyro games, except for the crossover ones with Crash Bandicoot.

OT: Of course I know Spyro. The Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot: Warped were the first games I ever had on the PS1. I got the other two of both series later.
