*points at Call of Duty* They are doing it far worse then Sqaure Enix. At least with Square you can tell each game is its own distinct entity. It actually has characters that don't look quite as cookie cutter as CoDs and hell CoD even knows this now as the entire cast of the next game is gonna be this "ghost" type person. Final Fantasy XIII wasn't as bad as you think and the combat actually is more engaging then say *puts up forcefield* Final Fantasy VI. XIII-2 actually was an amazing game and it didn't nullify the last one with time travel. It did however have a twist ending that I didn't see coming. There was no Deus Ex Machina at the end to save the day.
All the Kingdom Hearts games are actually pretty solid. I don't see what you thought was so "abysmal" about 358/2 Days. Heck if nothing else the story was pretty damn good showing you where Roxas comes from. As for all their development hell projects I don't know what is going on. Consider this though. They back pedaled and fixed XIV, they are finally getting KH 3 and versus XIII or rather XV off the ground so perhaps something is finally moving and shaking in there to get them headed in the right direction.
Squenix PUBLISHES Call of Duty.
FFXIII WAS as bad as I think. Because I have played it. All of it. The game can be beaten by repeatedly tapping
A and holding forward on the control stick. This is the OPPOSITE of engagement. The story, start to finish, makes no sense. By "makes no sense" I mean the characters actions, the basic plot, the backstory, all of it, fail any logical examination. XIII-2 is just as stupid as the first, with the same combat, and if you didn't see that "twist" coming, you have no experience with any literature, and that's sad.
358/2 was abysmal because it was ugly (forgivable if the rest holds up), the combat didn't fucking work unless you were on the ground, the 5 enemies in the game are copy-pasted ad infinitum and called "new" foes, the enemy behavior zones were so small they could be hit out of their spawn area, despawn, and force you to fight them all over again from full, which is a problem since this game had the same problem of too much enemy health that XIII had. The levels were cramped and the arbitrary programmer walls didn't make sense for half of the missions. The "story" is the worst part, though. It tells us NOTHING about Roxas we didn't already know from KH2, tells us nothing of the story happening behind the scenes of Sora's adventure, and instead gives us a character who was never mentioned before and never will be again. It is a COMPLETE waste of time.
