Oh, Square Enix. How you disappoint me so.
I was a Square Enix fan. I wouldn't just buy their FF games (Which I love), but also their other not-so-popular games, such as The Bouncer or Musashi Samurai Legend (The latter was horrible, the former was alright). But as of lately, they're disappointing me.
I don't like FF7 so I'm not upset about the fact I won't be able to play FF7 again. I'm upset about their "artistic" attitude towards things. Al this point, Square Enix needs money. Their attitude right now is "Oh, well, sure we need money, but we're just gonna keep on doing what WE like and well, fans gotta like it, right? It's not about what they want. What do they know?!".
I was just checking the Gotham City Impostors forums and the game is a success mostly because the developers listen to their fans. You can see them interact with them and do changes to stuff according to what they'd like to see. Same with Double Fine's Kickstarter. Square Enix, as a company, should aim to make the customer happy before doing whatever the hell they want and kicking their loyal fans in the balls.
FFXIII and FFXIII-2 weren't that bad. However, Square Enix knows what we want. We want XIII Versus, which was delayed because of FFXIII-2, a game they pulled out of their arse not too long after FFXIII was released. They want Kingdom hearts 3, a game that was pushed waaaay back because they wanna finish Versus XIII first, so see above. They want a FFVII remake. People are literally throwing their money at them, at this illusion of a game. Their response? "Naaaaaah, maybe next time".
So what.the.fuck?
Square Enix, at this point, I would just settle with a good FF game overall. One of those old school one. Those games whose story was gut-wretching and you just couldn't walk away from. Go back to that, to the Square Enix I knew and you can have my money again.
