You know what would be awesome? Multiplayer. And It would fit into the battle system perfectly.
Not every game needs multiplayer. Turn based RPG's don't need multiplayer. They did try that once with Final Fantasy VI. Guess nobody used it.
Yeah, but although not being able to control your other characters, although not really bothersome, annoyed me. I mean, I thought of multiplayer for XIII when that short E3 demo came out, I really thought it could work perfectly.

Yeah, it doesn't need multiplayer, but it would be a nice feature to have.
No it wouldn't. I looked it up and 5,6 and 9 all offered multiplayer but it was as pointless as the multiplayer in Sonic 2 or Mario Galaxy. It wasn't needed at all. What they needed in XIII was to slow down the combat and let us control all three characters.
The whole point of changing the ATB was the fast combat system. And dude, I just thought it would be cool, it probably could work considering all we've seen so far is only two people in the party at the same time.

Also the games you mentioned have nothing to relate to XIII-2, the combat systems were greatly different, considering 5 was turn based, and both 6 and 9 used different versions of the ATB used in XIII. Also, you could already control your team mates, you didn't have a computer use them for you.

Squeenix need to sort it out, now. They've got a lot of potential, I mean that, I really do. Or they did anyway. What's happened to their games? Fix everything wrong with XIII? The major criticisms of XIII were the lacklustre story, the lack of player involvement in the game, the linearity, the characters, the boss fights being so rigid, the fighting mechanics and so on. Change everything wrong? Make a different game, that'll do it.

I don't want more of this world, it's not a great one to play with. You guys HAVE the option to look elsewhere, I mean there's still the greatest cliffhanger of all time hanging over FFX-2 and FFVII (Shinra, the little brat from X-2 is purportedly the great genius behind the setting up of THE ShinRa company, yes that ShinRa company). I for one would like to see something in that vein.

Or you know, the game fans have been crying for for lord knows how long now, FFVII remade in high def.

You have the base there, willing to buy your games, why keep visiting the flops?

If they are making the combat even faster, then they are not addressing atleast one of the complaints about XIII.
Agreed, I thought the point of RPGs was strategy and I know they've always gone for trying to give this sense of urgency but I like at least to have the time to know what I'm pressing instead of having it so fast that I only find out what the computer selected as it's happening

If it still has that god awful combat system, I will insta pass on this.

I play games to plaaaay, not say auto attack.

And then fix that crystal point leveling system that was lame. Bring in a non fail character or 7 and we will talk.

The entirety of final fantasy 13 WAS a problem, toss the sequel, and give funding to the only game I'll consider buying, versus

13 was an abomination, so I have absolutely no hopes whatsoever for 13-2. I'm not falling for it any more, Squenix. I'm not giving you money. I'm not even giving any of the rental places my money. You are dead to me.

If they get rid of Hope, I'll maybe have a look at it.
This.

So Vanille will have a different voice? Or not be in it at all?
And this.

Also, ALL the problems? Really, Squenix? So your characters are gonna start dressing and cutting their hair like actual human beings now?
If they go down that route, you know what's going to happen, don't you? muscular, gruff, short-brown-haired men with no personality incoming..
I liked the aesthetics anyway, and if you think those people dressed weirdly, have a look at this.

Can someone explain all this "versus" business? Or is it just because the monumentally retarded name of Final Fantasy 13 is nowhere near as retarded as Final Fantasy 26 or whatever it is by now?
When they announced XIII, they decided to do a sort of compilation all set in relatively the same universe. Versus is one of those, and then there's the PSP game Type 0. But you're supposed to stick a "Final Fantasy XIII" before the subtitles. But I don't care.

Bloody hell! A version of FF 13 that doesn't feel like trudging down the world's longest hallway AND doesn't feature Vanille (I hope)?

I am SO on board for this.
I'm not even a SquarEnix fan and I want to see the sequel to 13 succeed. Between FF 13 and the MMO flopping, I was afraid that the gaming industry would lose one of its biggest RPG developers.

It's good to see a company taking fan criticism to heart, just like BioWare (I understand if you disagree about that). Hell, it's more than what Lion Head Studios did in regards to fan criticism about Fable 2 when they made Fable 3.

I just accepted that FFXIII was an experiment on their part and I was ok with that, and I still liked the game.

It's nice to see a developer take criticism of a game to heart and fix them in the sequel, and I'm hoping that FFXIII-2 will be a great game.

Now, if only they fix the problem of characters getting closer to the enemies so that they don't take greater damage, THE HELL ARE YOU DOING FANG?! GET BACK HERE!!

He likes critiscm eh? Well here's mine.

Characters:
Either re-used characters from previous Final Fantasies or trainwrecks like Vanille. Epic fail.

Lineiarity (I think I spelt that wrong):
There's a "Golden Saucer" part in the game that would work better in a previous Final Fantasy (WHICH IT DID) because I felt the plot was dragging me away from it and I knew I would never get to come back. Even when the game does loosen up in Pulse I still feel dragged along.

Music:
Look Square Enix, I don't care if you're sick of the old Final Fantasy tunes, but if you want to replace them you better come up with something better than this:

Excuse me? Victory "Fanfare"? Fanfare is fun, this is the beginning of a futuristic news report. I hate to look like a fanboy but I still prefer the Final Fantasy VII victory theme.

Gameplay:
The paradigm system was way to complicated.... I honestly think we should return to either the Esper or Materia systems.

The graphics were amazing though.

They want it to address the problems of the first Final Fantasy XIII huh? OK then this is what I found wrong,

Outright linear- the old Final Fantasy's were linear games but you had plenty to faff about with and it never felt linear because story could wait until you were finished completing side quests and weapon hunting.

Story- While FFXIII had an adequate story, it wasn't as good as the good Final Fantasy story's. Solution, get Hironobu Sakaguchi back on quality control... oh wait, you can't!

No ability to back track- Miss something? Well you can't go back to get it now can you! At least in the good ones 95-98% of areas could be revisited.

No distracting minigames- Seriously I loved the mini games of FFIX and FFX and I had nothing to do except be dragged by my nose and continue with team cardboard personality.

Grindings even worst here then previous games- Seriously this makes FFX's sphere grid seem conservative. The system just drove me nuts and took forever to get any characters stats up and by the time you got to a point where you could grind, the enemies slaughtered you without perfect strategies and how many people are as patient as me and will experiment until they get it right?

Only can control 1 character- I hate that my strategies and what the games AI wants to do are 2 different things. I died too many times because I had the AI decide that strategy meant spam skills that are ineffective against the enemy.

Hope- Enough said! Worst and most annoying emo character in Final Fantasy so far. I am willing to play through that piece of crap FFXII again over listening to that little brat again.

Yeah... I have issues with FFXIII. I'll probably never get a Final Fantasy the way I like because when are they going to make a Final Fantasy that plays like an older Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and have the job class system return that also has a good story and possibly character creation. You know what? How about Square Enix hires me and I'll make sure we get a good Final Fantasy... yeah like THAT'S gonna happen!

I hope to god we can control all of our characters now >.> and if the 'captain' faints, the fight doesn't automatically end. That annoyed me to hell.
Explain to me how that's even remotely possible in battle system like FFXIII's? Of course you control one character! You have up to five abilities to cram into the ATB in a short time limit! The battles are supposed to be fast-paced, not "Select Attack" for every single character anymore. People bitched about that mechanic in past games.. So now people want to ***** about it BEING BETTER!?
I like being able to control what all of my characters do. I never once complained about that mechanic is the previous games, I liked it. If a character fell in battle, and my leader was still charging, I could have another character get them back on their feet quickly. If a character is fighting something that is weak to a specific element, I could command all characters to hammer it with it. Instead I watch my other 2 fighters using at least one of every spell, going from lots of damage to extremely little.

Square-enix listen you can keep the gameplay the way it is. Hell the story can stay average. Just please give me good characters and male characters that DONT look like little girls.
...Snow and Sazh are "little girls"? ...Wow, we were playing very different games.. Did you get the super secret hentai Yaoi edition or something?
While they didnt look like girls, for the most part male characters in final fantasy games have delicate facial features. In 13, the "gang" snow had, most the people in the gang looked like women, but they weren't. Perfect example is Hope, he looked like a girl, now I don't want some grizzled space marine, but why can't all the guys look like guys, and the girls look like girls. I will admit I was thankful for Sazh, and Snow looking like male characters, but sadly SE has another problem. They cant seem to make people in their games interesting. None of the characters go through a change or anything, its sad because final Fantasy use to have great characters in their games. Who knows maybe SE will go back to the old ways.
