Yes for the love of god yes!Zaydin said:I'm debating buying STALKER and I'm not sure whether or not to spring for it. I've seen it's gotten good reviews, but I figure I'll ask people who have played it; do you think it's worth the 20 bucks off Steam or Impulse?
I was gonna ask if the Steam version was relatively bug free.GreyEarth said:Worth it.
Get it off Steam if your able. Its been patched and (mostly) bug fixed.
Graphics are a tad dated, but the audio is great and the atmosphere is heavy.
Don't expect to wade into fights and deflect bullets with your chin, you need tactics to survive.
I rarely bother modding my games. Too much effort. Closest I get to modding is add-ons for WoW. And I'm already installing it with Steam.TOGSolid said:Why the fuck do you not own this already?
Play it vanilla before you mod the fuck out of it just so you can have an appreciation for the game before you mod it with Oblivion Lost or Lurk. Too many people play that game modded without ever giving it a run vanilla style on master level.
Recommended the same thing I would, that you not only get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but grab a good mod for it.joppe_k said:STALKER SoC is totally, totally worth it. That's what I'm playing at the moment, and I've had the game for at least a year. If you get it, get the official patch and then the STALKER Complete 2009 mod:

This mod doesn't change the basic game, just re-balances and fixes issues as well as upgrading textures and shader quality to that of a 2009 game. It seriously improves on the experience and I'd strongly recommend using it even if it is your first play-through. This is the polished STALKER game that it should have been in the first place. It hasn't crashed or bugged a single time for me since I installed it. Make sure you exceed the recommended specs though.
