So he has played about 1000 games to utter nauseam, assuming each game has 1000 achievement points. That is about a minimum of 60 000$ spent in 9 years assuming each game has cost 60$. It is quote shocking that once you put numbers on it, I wonder how many hours that amounts too.
Hope he had his fun though
That is an incredibly inflated number. In order to get it, you are needing to assume a lot since every game was one that was bought, was purchased on release at full price and had not dropped at all in value, and was a full AAA title that demanded a $60 payment. Those are some very large assumptions.
Odds are, a considerable number of the titles played were either purchased used or when reduced, gotten and returned through a service like Gamefly, or borrowed from a friend. That also doesn't take into account Arcade titles that are at a reduced price, or DLC which adds more achievement points to unlock. I mean, several larger titles drop down to around $20 within a year of release, especially sports game and the like when the next iteration is put out.
So yeah, while he's likely invested a significant amount of money into financing this, and an even more considerable amount of time, to say that it is a minimum of $60,000 is blowing it considerably out of the water.
