Random thought that struck me, as they so often do: What are the Escapists favorite and least favorite stand-up comedians? I'm partial to Eddie Izzard myself (and I think Action Transvestite is an excellent name for a ska band). I love the kind of humor that he uses, and the running gags he strings through his different shows (I'm looking at you, Mrs. Badcrumble).

Least favorite, I'd have to say Larry the Cable Guy. Respect to the man for inventing that persona and cornering the hick market, but I just don't laugh at him (and it reminds me why I moved, because a worryingly large portion of my hometown is a lot like him). His whole routine is fart and tit jokes, and if I wanted to hear unfunny fart jokes I'd start watching Family Guy again.

Dara O' Brian is probably one of my favourites, I would do dirty things to that man!

Least favourite? Am... I think the list of comedians I dislike is too long but it's mostly comprised of lewd, American, male comedians. I don't think I'm part of their target audience though.

Lewis Black, George Carlin. Favorites.

Least: ....there's too many to name.

Michael McIntyre is absolutely fantastic. Easily one of the most funny comedians I've ever seen, and he's constantly coming up with new stuff. I've got tickets to go and see him next October, YES.

Least favourite is Lee Evans. The guy just doesn't tickle my funny bone at all.

Favorites: Bo Burnham and Pablo Francisco currently.

There is no such thing as a bad comedian to me. Except Jim Gaffigan.

I like Eddie Izzard, Mike Birbiglia, and Mitch Hedberg.

I'd agree with the posts above on least favorites (Larry and lewd US males), including Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, etc.

Jim Gaffigan is very funny. And loveable. And cuddly.

I COULD name bad ones but they really don't deserve the publicity so I won't. Many are female. I don't know what it is, but there aren't nearly as many good female comedians as male ones. Call it sexist, but it's true.

Best: Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Chris Rock.

Worst: Michael Mcintyre. I honestly don't see how anyone finds him funny he's just so safe, predictable and dull.

No favourite.

The worst is that puppet guy. He just plays on bad stereotypes that aren't even universal. (Apparently Mexicans are supposed to be lazy? Huh, who knew?)

Pablo deserves an honourable mention.

Best: Eddie Izzard, Billy Connolly (I'm amazed nobody's mentioned him yet!) and Monty Python (if they count).

Worst: I dunno. If they aren't funny, I don't watch/remember them.

Jack Dee, Frankie Boyle, Dara O'Brien, Ricky Gervais, Louis C.K., Dave Chappelle, Lee Evans, Jimmy Carr, Jack Whitehall, etc. I could probably go on and I know I'm forgetting a few, but there's some that I like.

Edit: 800 posts! Huzzah!

Dylan Moran is just epic.

I also like Eddie Izzard, George Carlin, Dara O' Brian, David O' Doherty, Bill Bailey and Bo Burnham if he counts. He sits down for quite a lot of playing the music, so yeah.

See around me, all I hear of him is HATE HATE HATE! while I think he's quirky and thoroughly amusing (not laugh out loud, but chuckle worthy).

Personally: Bill Bailey! A lot of his musical numbers are fucking awesome.

Oh come on, everything Jack Thompson says is comedy gold!

Good:

Ken Dodd (I know but live he was extremely funny, not so much on tv shows)

Bill Bailey

Ross Noble - Surreal and goes waaaaaayyyyy off tangent on a whim but always funny. At least half of every show he does is improvised, clever and downright insane.

Least Favourite: I've yet to find a decent modern female standup. Some of the older ones are still very funny.

My favorites are Dimitri Martin and Will Right.

My least favorite is Daniel Tosh.
