George Carlin is one of the greatest of all time. If not the best.

Louis CK is very funny too. I would also suggest checking out his TV show called Louie. It has a lot of stand up material that you don't get to see in his other acts. There's even an episode where he gets Dane Cook to come on the show and they bicker about whether Dane stole Louie's jokes!

I can't say I've actually heard/seen his proper stand up show - but Greg Proops' Smartest Man in the World podcast is hilarious, and seems to be unique to anything I've ever heard. I saw Mike Wilmot last year/year before - damn near burst a blood vessel laughing. I'm also shocked that I never see any Aussie comedians really mentioned in these things - Umbilical Brothers? Wil Anderson (ok he might be too Aussie), Bob Franklin? We have some amazing standups here but everyone seems to go for the Americans and the English, occasionally to the Irish. In saying that... I don't really know anyone who tops Ross Noble.

Russell Howard is hilarious :D

As is Dara O'Briain.

Very relevant, very funny.
Dude, what the hell... You just named exactly who I was going to. Get out of my head!

Ummm, I'll add Bill Bailley and Tim Minchin to add some musical comedy for variety.

You're awesome not just for having a list that long, but for putting Titus at the top.

Have you heard his show is getting a revival?
You mean the show Titus? No I hadn't, but I'm glad to hear of it. I never really got to see the original show, I was only 12 when it started airing (not saying I was too young for it...though knowing Titus, I possibly was...just saying that at the time I was more focused on cartoons).

Doug Stanhope is the ballsiest comedian I've ever seen. Most would recognize him as 'Eddie' on the same-named Louie episode. He's notorious for keeping no topic sacred and having mass audience walkouts.

There's also this guy I found on Youtube named Steve Hofstetter, who is something akin to an "anti-heckler" comedian. Almost all his videos are him ripping apart people who interrupt his set.

My top 3 right now:

Brian Regan
Jim Gaffigan
Marc Maron

Regan and Gaffigan are at least mostly clean (and are the funnier for it), and Maron is extremely vulgar.

Recently saw Jim Gaffigan's comedy special. It was hilarious.

Other then that, I've always enjoyed people like Lewis Black, Robin Williams, Louis C.K to name a just a few.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned these legends yet, they're arguably the best comics in history.

Depends on what you're into.

Like the occasional bit of low-brow humor? Then I recommend the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, with Ron White, Jeff Foxworth, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy.

Or if you're into scathing cynical humor, then I suggest you look for Denis Leary or Lewis Black to fill your need.

Bo Burnham and Steven Lynch are both pretty funny but are mainly musical comedians so if that ain't your thing you might not like them...

Fun fact: Do you know where I first heard of Geroge Carlin? <link=http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/George_Carlin>Thomas the Tank Engine.

Seriously. He was awesome in that show.

Bill Bailey:Musics based, sort of satirical but one of the best comedians out there.

Eddie Izzard:Cross Dressing surreal comic; will have any normal person bent over in laughter within minuets

Jimmmy Carr: Good but his new stuff not so much

Dylan Moran: Irish (may have seen him in the t.v show Black Books) sort of surreal, freaking hilarious

Ross Noble: IMO one of the best Stand Ups out there today, all his stuff is impromptu from the audience giving him a real sense of individuality.

This. He's great although probably not for everyone, it's funny just watching him go off topic which was already off topic.

Also:
Lee Evans
Jasper Carrot
Billy Connolly
lol I swear I saw one of his where he barley started on the first pre prepared topic he has then he never went back to it for the entire show
