1. What is your opinion on it in general?
I love Stand-up, but the problem with it, is that it is really opinion based and varies between each person and their tastes, as seen in this thread.
2. Favorite comedian alive today?
Dave Chapell, Daniel Tosh, and Christopher Titus are my top 3, in that order.
3. Favorite Comedian Ever?
Either Mitch Hedberg or George Carlin. Classics.
4. Least favorite comedian alive today?
Either Lopez or Larry the Cable Guy.
5. Least favorite comedian ever?
See above.
6. Have you ever tried stand up comedy? How did that go?
I can't do stand-up as I can't just tell jokes. My humor is all reactionary humor.

Stand-up comedy is like books, movies, video games, anything at all, really: totally valid entertainment, but 95% of it is pure shit.

I think the really good stand-up comedians are the ones who transitioned into it from something else, whether it was another line of work or simply their funny lives. They are genuinely funny people in everyday life, so it made sense for them to pursue it as a career.

Contrast this with the "comedians" who simply decided they were funny, and who believe persistence in following their dreams is all it takes to make it in comedy. Bullshit. Nothing bothers me more than someone who thinks he or she is funny. See: most content on this site.

Anyways, favorite comedian alive and of all-time? Louis CK. He cracks up comedians.
Least favorite alive and all-time? Tie between Carlos Mencia and most every woman.
Have I ever tried it? No. Some of my family and friends think I should, but they're just trying to find something nice to say about me. I'm not a funny person, so I won't get up on a stage and torture people who are trying to have a good time.

By the by, Louis CK's new show is awesome, and his promotional appearances on Jon Stewart and The Tonight Show were classic. He got bleeped like four times on Leno.
