Just, go to the link. It's already raised over 6 Million. It looks better than most (if not all) current AAA titles. It has realistic physics. The scale is massive. The community is great. It's being made by a gaming legend.

It's also not out yet so everything you just said is pure speculation. Right now I'll wait till it comes out to get interested in it, but doesn't look very intriguing to me.

Looks like an awesome concept, hope it gets done, but it is MASSIVELY ambitious and he may not be able to pull it off. Deffinitely keeping an eye on it though!

Damn! I happen to be just playing and messing around in the old Wing Commander series due to the recent GOG.com sale. Got them for such a bargain. And I was even wondering if I should invest in a flight stick. Looks like I got something even bigger and better to look forward to now! Chris was a genius writer, very excited to see how this turns out. I remember having my socks blown off when I first fired up Wing Commander 3, incredible narrative with all the real-life cinematics. Nowadays when I watch it reminds of a Flash Gordon flick or something. Awesome stuff, a not just decent but actually pushing the boundaries PC space sim in the modern era of gaming, brilliant!

Seems a bit like they are so focused on making it realistic that no one is stopping to say "is it fun?". Sure having a realistic cockpit where you can see everything move and all that is a neat idea, and makes for a cool tech demo, but it detracts from the actual gameplay, I couldn't even really see what was going on outside the ship while he was in cockpit view, and it was fairly obvious he couldn't either, bumping into things, having trouble shooting at ships, etc.

I'm intrigued by this game, I love the idea and I will certainly be following it, but for now I'm unimpressed.
