STAR WARS: REVISION SEVENTEEN

By: George Lucas

Changes:
-3D
-Add "A Better Chosen One than the Last One" as sub-subtitle
-Replace Death Star with computer-generated waffle
-Superimpose Matt Damon's face over Alec Guinness
-Digitally replace Han's gun with bowl of petunias
-Add forty-two varieties of stormtrooper to maximize toy revenues

As you can see, I am somewhat critical of how George Lucas handled the various re-releases of the original Star Wars trilogy. In all seriousness, though, he's just going to make even more revisions to the movies with these 3D releases - I myself would much rather just sit down, dim the lights and watch the original versions in my living room.
Hah!

My boyfriend will probably drag me along to these because he still forces me to watch the prequel trilogy once every couple of months, but I'm not looking forward to this. I've already seen the original trilogy in theatres when they were re-released. There's no need to see it again.

I saw the Special Editions in cinemas back in '97. That was when I was stupid little kid who didn't know any better. The only way I will ever watch Star Wars in cinemas again is if the ORIGINAL cuts are shown. I'd much rather watch my LaserDisc copies at home otherwise.

And what's with all this talk of prequels? That never happened... You hear me?

Eh, maybe if you have kids that have never seen star wars before, then you could take them to see it. Or, if you have never seen star wars before, it might be worth it (although seriously, who hasn't seen star wars before?). For everyone else, stay away. The Prequels will still suck, even in 3D and the originals won't be any better in 3D. If you have starwars on DVD then see it at home, which saves you on money and fuel, and if you don't, then either get it on DVD (it should be pretty cheap by now) or just watch it whenever it replays on TV.

3D is not immersive. I have never seen a 3D film and thought "wow, it's like I'm there!". 3D makes the screen dimmer, I have to wear the 3D glasses over my regular glasses, and it adds nothing to the QUALITY of a film. It's a gimmick, nothing more.

I don't really like 3D, especially when you're just slapping it into old footage. Not to mention that after the billionth time Lucas has twiddled with the franchise so as to make it virtually unwatchable...I can't bring myself to care about this.

Come on, George, stop beating a dead horse. Actually try to come up with something new and interesting...oh wait, you haven't done that since the early 80s.

Please George... You of all people should know 3D is just a crazy and horrendous cash-in and pop-culture is eating it up... You can't possibly think this will not piss off all of your fans.....
